I went through this about a year ago as my driver door tumbler was so worn it would not work . The only source I could find was on ebay. There were a few people selling them, so just check prices for the best deal. They came from Taiwan I belive and took about 3 weeks to get here. Decent quality and still working fine.

Any competent locksmith, given the numeric code stamped somewhere on your vehicles remaining locks can disassemble the lock barrel and fit new inserts to the existing tumbler slots and restore full operability.  Lacking the numeric code, the locksmith would have to measure the existing worn tumbler inserts and do a look-up to find existing replacement units that would match the keys.  Did I mention that unless your keys are really shot, the matchup is much simplified for the locksmith?  Insert the key, look,  and measure the required corresponding replacement insert set.  There is a place for professional help still left in this world!  LAZAMI in Torrance is a very competent locksmith, although he has moved from his long time PCH and Hawthorne Blvd. location.  Google or look in the Yelow Pages for his current location.

  • 4 weeks later...

I think I can ask this without hijacking:

What assemblies have the 4 keys(ribs) on the exterior of the cylinder and which ones have only 3?

I just swapped a wagon door and had to file the 4th key off of my cylinder in order to fit in the replacement door. The car is a '72 and the replacement door... I dunno.

This is by far the best first choice, if it is just from wear see a locksmith if some dickhead tried to break into the car and messed up the housing then check out eBay.
