ramen tamer
So, I think I may have a problem with my o2 sensor and I want to replace it. I went out to O'Rielly's without really looking at my situation, because I suck at vehicles, and figured I'd just get one that fits in a '97 240sx. The problem is, my previous owner has the o2 sensor rigged in with one red wire, when all the documentation that I can find says I should be using a heated 3-wire o2 sensor. Does anyone know of a way to hook up the proper connection for this? Or, if I must, a way to Jerry-rig an o2 sensor in there? Upon further Googling, I found this: http://www.wiringspecialties.com/rbo2seco.html Which looks like it will work. But then I'll still need to wire it into the truck. Which is another hurdle that I'm unfamiliar with. Here's a picture of the current wiring set-up... Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment

ramen tamer
"You're goddamn right." Edit: I'm just gonna do an edit, to avoid double posting, but I had a thought. The two white wires on the o2 sensor are the heater wires, yeah? I think they are anyways...That means that the one black wire is my sensor wire itself. So, I would just hook the black one up where the red one is and that sorts that bit out. After that, would the heater wires just need a source of electricity? If I grabbed some unused wires coming out of the battery and connected them up, would that work? I could, technically, just hook up the one black wire and call it a day...But doing things half-assed just doesn't seem all that good of an idea. And, I imagine that upstream o2 sensors have heaters for a reason. I mean, someone with a lot more knowledge about these sorts of things has engineered it to have heaters and I, for one, don't feel qualified to argue. Quote Link to comment

ramen tamer
I did that. Now the problem is that there's not a obvious way to hook it up. Quote Link to comment

ramen tamer
I can dig it. I'll give that a try. I'm gonna have to do some reading, because I'm not exactly up to snuff on wiring. Quote Link to comment
