Hi,

Long story short, but I think I just got myself a '73 620.  It hasn't run for many years.  I plan to flush the fuel system, and see if it will start.   It has 6-lug drums all-around.  I assume I will need new master, and cylinders.  Where can I get those?

It's ratty and rusty, but I am very excited.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Ratsun, rockauto is prolly the first reference. Parts are cheap. You can also cheak ebay or partstrain. The latter is where I ordered my parts.

I hope you've worked with old engine before. Im confident you wont just cross your fingers and turn the key...

There is a door tag driver's side that has the build date stamped on it. The model year starts around June of the previous year so some '73s were actually built late in the '72 model year but are lumped in with the '73s. Earliest 620s were April '72 maybe earlier. Your 620 will have an L16 engine.... you can check the engine size by looking at the top edge of the block where it meets the head directly behind the oil dip stick. The engine tag on the driver's inner fender will say so. In addition the fender emblems will say DATSUN1600

You guys are asking for pics and he's not even an owner yet.

Give him a break.

Welcome to Ratsun.

I was thinking that he meant he thought it was a 73, since he said he was gonna flush the system and try to start it I figured it was in his possession.

.Thanks all, and I will check out Rock Auto.

Not my first rodeo.  I have a 73 Porsche 914, and 65 Volvo 122 Wagon, so the 620 will join this eclectic mix.

I hope to have title next week.  It's a long story, and once I have title in hand I will share.

Suffice to say, the truck is solid, but shows battle scars from 40 years of service.  Not sure it's been run in a long time,

Interesting to note that the gas tank has a drain underneath.  Is this expected?

Thanks again for your insight and support.  I will post pix when all is said and done.

Thanks!

yes.

Well that makes flushing the tank a much easier operation for sure!

Also, the car has the 6-lug drum brakes.  What is the pattern?   I am looking at some larger steel wheels.  What sizes should I be looking at to keep the rolling diameter the same?   What will fit in the wells?

I guess you mean tightening pattern? Tighten one snug then the one across from it, then the one next to the first and the one across from it and the last and the one across from it. Repeat to a final torque. How much? Probably 80 ft lbs?

I meant the bolt pattern - 6x5.5".

Was looking online at some other wheels, and figured I'd ask.  Found it pretty quickly.  But thank you tho.

Six bolt GM, Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Isuzu trooper, will fit... and more I can't remember.

Turns out its a 72.   You can see my 914 behind it.  She needs work, but she's pretty solid, and all there, albeit a bit ratty :)

Even better first year is the best to me.  However changes happened little changes especially in the wiring.  Mines late 72 which is technically 73.
