shift lever rattle

Recommended Posts

when I get up to he's tired than 65 miles an hour I notice that there is a rattle that comes from the shift lever. If I put my hand on it, this goes away, but I can't feel deliver vibrating. is there something that I can type in to stop this? Am I in any danger of getting thrown out of gear or anything of that sort? Thanks!

Gearbox i.e. dogleg 5 spd?

Dependent on the type of gearbox, some will have plastic bushes where the clevis pin retains the shift lever.

These can wear/break. Other times the bush on the ball at the base of the gearstick can wear/break.

Bloody near impossible to diagnose this one via the keyboard.

This is Ratsun, pics of said gearlever with the shift boot removed are a must in the first instance !

Voice recognition, ye gods !

For a second I thought it was Jrock or Hainz posting in their modified English.

Im not familiar with the standard A14 four speed. Having said this, a trick you can do to take some of the slop out of the L series shift levers is to put a spring washer between the shift lever and the tabs on the gearbox housing (on the inner side).

Ill try and post a pic later which will make more sense.

Both the A12 4 speed and the A14/15 4 speed use the same bushings....

Control lever bushings.... 32855-H1010 under $5 for both

Control lever head.......... 32861-H7301 under  $2 each (one needed)
