Justin Berni Posted May 4, 2015 Report Share Posted May 4, 2015 I wanna go a little lower with my truck but I don't really want to stack lowering blocks.. So my idea is taking the rear leaf spring shackle, drilling new holes higher up in it, and moving the leaf spring up? Wouldn't this work? I don't see why it wouldn't, but it seems like if it was that easy everyone would do it.. Everybody with Hrdbodys redrills their front leaf spring hangers, which I did on mine, but will it work the same way on the shackles?? If nobody has any input I'll just try it out and see how it works. Quote Link to comment

I would personally de arc the springs. Can you "flip" shackle? This is true, the leaf spring will swing up around the front mounting point. You may get the back of the spring 3/4" higher but at the axle maybe 1/4". In addition the shackle has to be long enough to allow the spring to grow longer and the aech flattens out on bumps. Blocks are the safest cheap and easiest way to lower. Having the spring de-arched is another good method but much more bother and expense... however and extra leaf can be added at this time to increase the spring rate. A stiffer spring is very desirable when the truck is going to be closer to the ground. It will restrict suspension movement and reduce bottoming out. Quote Link to comment

I'm just gonna find some 4x4 springs and throw those on, that sounds like the best thing to do from here so I don't have to stack blocks or anything, I'd rather not do that. 1 Quote Link to comment

Couldn't find a good example with a quick search, but I have seen it done a few times. Jrock did his this way, but his pics aren't showing up in his snack shack thread. Quote Link to comment
