Hi guys I'm new here to the Ratsun forum. Recently picked up a 1979 Dastun 210 and I'm having trouble figuring out what year it actually is. So this "79" 210 says its an 80 on the title but it looks like a 79 it has round head light, but the engine is an A15. Which only came in 1980 no 79 so the internet says. If there is anybody out there with some info that would be Awesome!

Hi Pr0t0lyfe and welcome to Ratsun.

Generally the model year starts August and ends July.

The first 210 was built in Feb of '78 so technically it's a half year model but gets lumped in with the '79 model year that starts Aug '78 and runs until July of '79. Now they might have been called '78s but I think are referred to as '79s. I'm sure ggzilla will straighten me out on this.

Anyway the '79 model year runs until July of '79 and the '80 model year begins in August '79. Stay with me....

The round headlights changed to square November of '79 or 4 months into the '80 model year.  Yes, it is possible to have round headlights AND be an '80 vehicle. The build date on the door jam will be between August and November of '79. Confused?

My info shows the A15 was used at the end of the '79 model year. (July) maybe sooner. ggzilla may know.

...and welcome to Ratsun where the knowledge is confusing.

Thanks for the info mike. Much appreciated. I was looking everywhere for some info on this thing and all Ive been able to find are blips here and there about it.

The plaque in the engine compartment is wiped clean all thats left is an imprinted number on it and the the door jam plaque is also missing
