miss in engine

Recommended Posts

Just rebuilt an A14 for my B210.  Started it up yesterday and there is a miss.  I have new plugs, wires, cap and rotor.  I adjusted the valves after the rebuild.  The only thing different now is I installed a Weber carb.  Not sure where to start. any help would be great.

Thanks

Check timing

Check compression

Make sure the head gasket seated correctly

Check for spark n strength of spark for each cylinder.

spark plugs and spark plug wires now a days are often faulty off the shelf.

Check all vacuum sources for leaks

with Webers we all have to use adapters, very common leak source

Clean idle circuits on the Weber (both sides)

Check coil

Pull the plugs, they are a window into the combustion chamber. Is one noticeably different than the others? Fouled? Carboned up? Check the rotor and the dizzy cap on that plug for carbon tracking. Replace if you can. Swap another wire on... does this fix the problem?

Adjust the idle mixture slightly richer.

Got it fixed.  You guys were right on.  Adjusted the carb per Weber instructions, runs great.  Thanks again I would not have thought it would be the carb.
