Want new Hot Spark

Hey... I'm wanting to replace my dual points dizzy with a hot spark one. My question is what do I do with the 2nd set of wires and switch on tranny. Oh and I'm switching to a 63a. How do you post pics?

I believe the 'Hot Spark' is a misnomer. Maybe someone can correct me but it only replaces the points, which is a blessing for sure, but it doesn't produce a Hotter Spark than the points. If looking for a hotter high output for your ignition find a later '78 Remote Igniter or '79-'80 Matchbox distributor and matching coil. With luck you can score one for under a hundred dollars.

 

Just disconnect the extra wires, relay and the switches on the carb and the transmission. Not needed.

Then Hot Spark it is. Be sure to check that it will fit the distributor shaft on a dual points dizzy. Dusl points may have a thicker shaft.

Pertronix is sold for a single point. so the holes will not line up as it uses the single point hole spacing. 2 screws

duela point I believe is only one if I remember right

Thanks for the replies guys. Hot spark has a whole dizzy for $120 so I would be replacing the dual point dizzy. They give all measurements for the new one so if they measure the same I will probably get that.

for $100 you should be able to find a matchbox and never worry again

also if you go to parts store, the trick is to ask for a distributor for your 1980 720 2.0
