So I bought a pair of bitchin' "Rally Car" style roof vents thinking I'd put one behind the head of the driver's and passenger's seats.  I fingered sucking air out above and behind the head would draw it over the body and cool nicely.  Yeah, the only place to put ONE of them is right in the center between the seats... so I'll be doing that instead.  The other vent will probably go in the Baja 1200.

you call that rally style. I call that peterbilt bed vent

You say "tomato," I agree with you that it is pronounced "tomato."

I did, however, find them from a post on a Rally Car forum so I also say, "Go grease Wheezer!"

Decided to get cracking on the seats...

Driver's side in (along with the doghouse) for a test fit...

Had to drill one hole for the left front leg to get started and propped it up on some screw jacks...

Seating position is a tiny bit high, but workable. Plans are afoot to rebend the shifter up a bit to stop it banging on our knees in third gear...

After a lot of measuring it looks like the stock inner seat bracket can be modified to work on these seats as well...

Once we get that firmly attached to the seat, we can bolt it back in and get to work fabbing a left rear mounting point. Hopeful for more progress tomorrow...

does this thing come with seatbelts?

We discussed that today.  At most, it would have had lap belts so that's probably how we're going to roll.  I suppose I could "engineer" some three-point belts, but since my feet are the crumple-zone, I figure: Meh, something's going to kill me some day.

Yeah, I saw those as well but making suitable hard points for the lap belts is going to tax my patience enough already.  I went with a similar kit with just the lap belts.

After staring at that last picture for a while, I've come up with a few thoughts:

1) My left thumb bends funny and you can really see that wicked scar from slicing it to the bone as a kid.

2) I think the pipe needs a support going to the floor.

3) I think I want to install the second tank on the opposite side of the van and "Y" off of this filler to it.

4) I'm not sure where we want to install it, but we need to install a vent.

I flew a solo mission at the shop today and installed the new purple steering wheel with purple spacer thingy.  We're beginning to get a bit of a mish-mash of different purples going on, but I think it is going to work.  I was going to hang the zorst pipes/mufflers but realized a) it was hot as balls, and 2) that was going to be a 2-man job.  Then I was going to hang the zorst tips but realized a) it was still hot as balls, and 2) THAT was going to be a 2-man job as well.  So I had a look at the speaker situation again... which now I can't remember if we've even discussed that situation here.  Anyhoo, whether or not we have discussed it, I'm going back to the original plan of 6.5" round speakers just to the inside of the vent titty things.  I zooked a pair of "feet" to a round rod which wedges in between said titties nicely.  We'll attach the speaker boxes to that and maybe float the amp in between those items.  I'm hoping that the cross bar will disappear and make the speakers and amp look like they are floating.  We'll see.
