most certainly taken during the Spanish civil war. all four are carrying C96 Mauser derivatives with the lead chap definitely toting a “Schnellfeuer”.

The Schnellfeurpistole was not a C96.  It was a separate model 712.  The internal parts are different.  and the side plate markings are different and include a select fire mode lever.
