accordfreak
I'm new to the datsun community and just bought a 521 with a vg30e engine 5 speed from a z31 already installed. The speedometer doesn't work. Does anybody know what kind of speedometer cable will work with the stock 521 gauge? Will a z31 work with the 521 or has anybody tried? 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
The stock 521 speedo cable should work with the Z31 5-speed unless it has a digital sender. 2 Quote Link to comment

EastBay521
aren't those the same as the ka tranny but with a different bell housing? if its a digital sender take that one out and put one in from an Lseries 5 speed and the stock speedo cable will bolt up to it 3 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
For that you will need one from a Hardbody. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Only speedo pinion from L series transmission built after '80 (may) fit the later 71C 5 speed. Get an early '87 and up D-21 Hardbody pinion. You will want a BLACK plastic, 17 tooth one to keep your speedometer accurate. 4 Quote Link to comment
620KA24
The stock 521 should work as well z the early z 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The pinion sleeve will only fit the FS5W63A dogleg. The plastic pinion 'gear' from the F4W63 is too long to fit the later 71B or C transmissions. 521 on far left. Late ('80-) 71B. Early (-'80) 71B. Even the early and late 71B won't swap with each other. The early and late 'gears' might swap haven't tried this. 1 Quote Link to comment
