flatcat19
Give it the ol' reach around. I know you're good at that. Can I access the pin from under? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
620 is gone. And my hood is closed. Replacing it is the easy part. How the hell do I get in?! Long skinny screwdriver through the gap between the grill and hood, pop the lever that opens the latch. Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
I can get my finger on the latch. The part that holds the cable is hidden under the core. Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
The ball on the cable fell out of its little groove. Ugh. And the only tool I have here even remotely helpful is a Phillips screwdriver. That's it. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Sorry. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I know how I'm going to get it. Just have to bring home tools from work tomorrow. And I also know how I'm going to make this easier in the future. #wasteddaylight #FUDatsun Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
And I also know how I'm going to make this easier in the future. Put the hood pins back on? 2 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Um...no. Hex headed bolts on the grill so I can wrench them off and a super sized ferrule in the cable/latch assy. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
I have a solution, buy a new cable, the original one lasted 40 years. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Well, duh. Why had I not thought of that? Gosh. I'm so glad you found my thread. :poke: Oh wait. Posted above, I wrote the ball slipped out of it's little cubby hole. The cable will last me many more years. I just have to be able to get in there and open the damned thing. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Hood is open. Adjusted cubby hole to hold cable end better. Streched inner slleve of cable pretty bad yesterday. New cable coming soon. So I removed the battery to survey and plot my engine harness replacement...turns out body harness is pretty fucked up too. My thought...if I'm in there doing this, I may as well just replace both at the same time. If I could afford it I'd just buy a full Ron Francis kit and bribe DanielC and/or Laecaon to come offer a hand. May just do the engine harness tomorrow because I know it will at least be a runner after doing so. flatcat19
Honestly...I'm a little scared to tackle a full rewire on my own. I'm way too impatient. Hence, wanting someone more comfortable with it around me. Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Oh? I just got myself a new phone today. Give me a minute to figure it out. (C/P IMG code of the video pops up an error message here. Argh. How to do?) I sent datsunfreak a video of it through text. It really runs. I promise. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
If it runs anything like your mouth it should have no problems. 3 Quote Link to comment
