SEVERAL QUESTIONS:

First, try normal lower case writing so it doesn't look like you are shouting.  Save the capitols for when you need to shout.

Second, we discuss things on all our forums. Buying and selling are only allowed in our classifieds section. There is a link to the classifieds at the top of every page.

Third, it's customary to start an introduction thread in General Discussion where you tell us about yourself and your Datsun. Pictures are always welcome.

Forth, the FS5W63A 'dogleg' is a capable 5 speed that works on an unmodified L series engine. They are somewhat rare to find, and usually well used by now. They fit a 510 with little modifications. They were used in the '77-'79 S10 200sx and as an option in the A10. A better choice is the FS5W71B from a 620, 810/Maxima, 280z, 280zx. This is a much stronger 6 cylinder transmission that came in a variety of gear ratios and over drives. This 5 speed is longer than the 510 4 speed and needs a shortened drive shaft but is well worth the trouble.

Fifth, The V219 head will drop your compression from 8.6 down to 8.2 on an L16. For maximum advantage you need the flattop pistons with it.

Sixth, yes I have seen an A-87 head. They were used on most L18 engines in open chamber design. Any closed chamber A-87 heads probably came here on imported engines back in the '80s. Open chamber A-87 will produce a 6.7 compression, closed 7.2)

Seventh, if you want an excellent electronic distributor just get one from a later '79 or '80 L20B. They are called a matchbox dizzy and are breakerless (no points) and extremely high output. Mallroy has a rep from the 60s that has little relevance today. The factory EI distributors are far better.

Eighth, welcome to Ratsun.

Regarding "Fifth" he is looking for a V912 head, and I thought I suffered from number inversion.

Keep up the good work on the site.  Doc

lol yup. The 219 was the original large port/valve closed chamber head generally found on the L16SSS and used in combination with the L16 flattops pistons and SSS cam. These were highly sought after and the inventory soon depleted. There was such a demand (mostly for racing) that Nissan re cast a similar design and renamed them the V912. Nissan as well as I reversed the numbers. Essentially they are otherwise identical.

How much are you willing to pay for one (219 cylinder head)?

Take it to private message please.... this isn't the classifieds and it certainly isn't an auction.

I have a 912 with no v. Maybe the last casting?

The V is part of the part number, the casting is simply 912. Some A-87 heads have a '912' cast on the very  front.
