ggzilla
Its not going anywhere unless you remove it ... The diag connector fits into that plastic clip. It won't have vacuum hoses on it ever. 1 Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Never mind what I said. I dont know what the vacuum thing is. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
One is for the fuel shut off system. It operates by sensing high vacuum in the intake on deceleration and turns off the idle cut solenoid. This saves the gas usually sucked through the engine and wasted. It actually improves mileage. The other is for sensing low intake vacuum under heavy throttle loads. This deactivates the dual spark plug to single plug operation to reduce engine noise. 2 Quote Link to comment
emceefarlane
Picked up a second project just because it was cheap and I want a wagon, almost looks like a Datsun if you squint your eyes and look at it from a mile or two away! Not sure if there's and american equivalent but ausubaru.com has infinite information on MY series Subarus. Helped a lot when i was building my L Cheers 1 Quote Link to comment
Justin Berni
Reindexed my torsion bars the other day, and put my 4" blocks in, might be able to go lower in the front with torsions but not sure, either way I'm saving for drop spindles soon. 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhino13
What size tires you running? And did you shorten your bump stops in the back? Looks good 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
So you have no suspension then. The air in your tires is now your suspension. Bounce much? 2 Quote Link to comment

Justin Berni
So I'm gonna be buying drop spindles within the next month some time, and I'm aware I'll need another alignment after this, and I'm also aware that an alignment is basically a waste of money with warn suspension parts so what all should I replace? I plan on buying lower ball joints(uppers were just replaced) and inner/outter tie rod ends, and holding onto them until putting drop spindles on and do it all at once then get it aligned. Is there anything else I should do while I'm at it? 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhino13
Well since everything will be apart you might as well replace the wheel bearings. I'd get idler arm bushing, pitman arm, maybe a new center link. You pretty much covered what you'll need. 1 Quote Link to comment

Wheel bearings were done by the kid who had the truck before me along with the upper ball joints, but I'll probably pick up everything else you said since I might as well, thanks man 2 Quote Link to comment
Brohemius
I wouldnt do the pitman arm, they last forever and rarely warp unless in an accident. They are also press fitted onto the steering box... Fun. If you look at my thread (my first 720 and first datsun!) you will see my steering parts are worn out badly, specifically the idler arm. And even with all that wear i dont need to replace the pitman arm. Also I would just replace the whole idler arm instead of just the bushings, they are about 20 bucks so get the whole thing. Center link would be a good idea since theres bushings and such on it. Rhino gave good advice, do all you can. I just dont think the pitman is necessary. 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhino13
I'd just check things as you take them off. Any joint in your steering will most likely have wear after 30 years, other than your newer parts obviously. So just move things around when disassembling and see what needs replacing. If the joint on your pitman arm is bad, then you'll for sure need one, but every truck is different so you just have to check things out. 1 Quote Link to comment
Justin Berni
Picked up some stock 4Runner wheels last night for a deal. They were pretty rough but cleaned up really well after working on them all day, buying tires for them on Friday when I get paid. 2 Quote Link to comment
Dean720Ada
I have a set of those 4 runner wheels. It looks even more bad ass when you polish them looking like chrome 1 Quote Link to comment

Justin Berni
My friend found my a factory tach in a wrecking yard today, called and said he had a part for me and showed up with this! He told me about the truck in the yard so we went back, I grabbed a couple other things, but I'm mostly happy about this tach. I really want to find a clock now. 2 Quote Link to comment

reelmagic
i know this is an old thread and you have moved on to another truck, but what were the specs of your suspension and tires in the last few photos? The truck sat great in those pictures and I love the 17" titans. Thanks. 1 Quote Link to comment

He loosened the bolts on the torsion bars in the front so far they hung down below the frame, they then hit/dragged the ground and got bent up real bad, I know this as I bought the wrecked truck from him. 1 Quote Link to comment
