Darkness - My LS6-swapped Z

Hi all, My name is Riley Stair. I have been pouring over my 260z since this time last year, and it has finally made its way out of the darkness and onto the pages of StanceWorks. I am thrilled to share all of my hard work and effort I put into this car to make it into the creation I painted in my head in the very beginning.

I’m sure the car isn’t for everyone, but all comments are welcome!

I hope you guys enjoy the story and the photos by Mike Burroughs.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy!

"Stance" is a gross word around here lolol

Looks mean as fuck.

I like the way the wing is built, but looks disproportionate/not terribly functional.

now where are the burnout videos?

What he said ^^^   I get the feeling it sounds as mean as it looks

Which is the very definition of stance isn't it?

Fwiw, the wing mounts through the tail panel and directly to the cage, so I'd imagine it would actually generate significant downforce at speed.

As for being disproportionate, well... It's definitely big!

Part of the reason I said I like the way its built, being tied into the cage is a nice mounting.

The mounting of a wing isnt what makes a wing functional.

Its all about dat flow and pressure lol

Thank you for the props on the build quality. As far as the aesthetic the wing creates, it is not for everyone. While it has never, and will never see a wind tunnel for testing like an F1 car, I am sure it will create enough downforce to satisfy the speed of the car, and helps to create the aesthetic that I aimed to achieve. Aggression.

Anywho, thank you for welcoming me to Ratsun, I am happy to be here!

PS. twistedimages has heard the car and I think he can vouch for the noise that it makes. The car will do many burnouts, and I promise one will be shared here!

While the car itself is pretty bada@@, I must applaud the photography and the accompanying article. They really captured the spirit of the car and the build-process. I'm also not a huge fan of big wings and flares, but your car looks like its been put together by a real car-guy, someone who had a vision and fulfilled it.

I congratulate you on your accomplishments and look forward to hearing more about this and other builds that I'm sure you'll be working on in the future.

Really nice car.  I'm pleased to see how far the LSX projects have come since folks started doing them about 15 years ago.

Back then it was all shade-tree fab work because it was so new and there were no conversion components on the market. In 2002 I started working with John's Cars, Inc. (JCI) in Dallas, TX.  The plan was to put a '98 Camaro Z28 LS1 into a '77 280Z.  He had the Camaro and I had the Z.  Their primary business was SBC's & Turbo 350's into Jaguars and their workmanship was outstanding.  The transplants looked OEM when they were done.  Anyway, 14 months later my car came out of the shop and JCI had a full range of components available for anyone with an S30 that wanted to do the conversion. They were the first offered.
