DaBlist
Let's say your fenders don't match the year of your hood and you are a broke sixteen year old. Well... here's how he fixed it and then posted pictures on the internet to prove it 2 Quote Link to comment

Dantheman
These kids usually complain of the cost to repair by a qualified perfesional. "See I fixed it for 30.00, those guys are just ripping people off" 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Sadly, '67 fenders are dirt cheap aftermarket... Well, they are now. Don't know about then... 2 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Of course, you could also buy the right hood, but then it'd be ugly... 1 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Not so surprisingly, this is virtually identical to repair techniques in Great Britain based repair manuals. But then, Rust is King in the isles! Hence the fact that older British cars so often wear aftermarket body kits that look like Super Swallows. 1 Quote Link to comment

mhub91
I don't see anything wrong with this. Kudos on him for trying..... Sheesh, when I was 16 I had my nose so far up the girlfriends ass it would have broke of she took a hard right! 2 Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Lot's of us have done these kinds of repairs because we didn't have the skills, didn't have access to the right tools, couldn't afford to have it done right, or the car just didn't justify any better. But we didn't want everybody to know about the hack job we did. Today's kids don't think twice about putting every on the internet good or bad. "Hey look at me, I fixed the rocker panels with spray foam. Ain't I great" 2 Quote Link to comment

faultymechanics
It really does come down to what tools are available. I have been in that situation before; buy a welder and all the materials, or fix it for 30 bucks. If the price paid for the truck is under 1k then I could see someone choosing the latter. Generally if I can't afford to buy the welder and get the car/ truck fixed properly I will just sell the vehicle to someone who can. Another way to see it is he will definitely have another shot to repair it in 2 years when the bondo seperates from the real metal. 2 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
he will definitely have another shot to repair it in 2 years when the bondo seperates from the real metal. A saying often used around our shop... "If you don't have the time/money to do it right the first time, you won't have the time/money to do it twice". ^_^ 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
another.... There's never time to do it right but always time to do it over. fast, cheap or good. Pick two, but the third choice then becomes mutually exclusive to the other two. If fast and cheap it won't be good If cheap and good it won't be fast If good and fast it won't be cheap 3 Quote Link to comment
