A_rod510
I need help wiring my 510 with a Ka24de swap , okay I just recently got a can/am box and I followed the diagrams as listed , I'm confused on certain things though , like is the stock dash harness inside the 510 going to have to be spliced or anything ? Or does it just connect to the stock engine harness http://postimg.org/image/wjp1efj15/ 1 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
dude ...... really? This is heavily (extremely, heavily, mega) documented topic. To put this in a nutshell, your Datsun 'literally' doesn't know the engine is in it. The engine 'literally' doesn't know that it's in a car. Two totally seperate animals that just so happen to live in the same habitat. The only thing that goes from your car to the can/am is the B/W wire from distributor and your ST signal wire, power and ground. Simple. You splice nothing from the main harness. C'mon now. You can do this. 2 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
you keep your stock 510 harness as this power all the lights instruments ect..... You use one or 2 of the stock wires to turn on the can/am box which willl be hooked up to power to turn on the engine harness you got for the KA. Now dont be a Moron on and PULL your stock haness out 1 Quote Link to comment
A_rod510
actually when I got the car it was completely gutted and the harness was already out the car but what you told me right now will help because now I have a better idea my only question was on the ka harness , are the wires I'll be putting in the can am box going to come out of the control unit from the KA harness right ? Because the main ecu plug is just plugs into the ecu box right ? 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I would be guessing as I never done one. Because the main ecu plug is just plugs into the ecu box right ? I would hope so. 1 Quote Link to comment
heretic
Think of the CAN AM box as the coupling that links your old 510 harness to the new KA computer & harness. .... are the wires I'll be putting in the can am box going to come out of the control unit from the KA harness right ? some wires are from the KA harness & some wires are from your 510 harness that plug into the Can Am box. ...... Because the main ecu plug is just plugs into the ecu box right ? yes the ECU plug, plugs into the ECU. Just because it plugs into the ECU doesn't mean all the wires are sending current/signals out of the ECU, some of those wires carry current/signals into the ECU as well. I've not done one of these swaps yet but Icehouse has made it 99% fool proof........ IMO. 2 Quote Link to comment
A_rod510
Ok so since you just said that the can am will need wires coming out of the KA harness and stock harness which ones will be from each harness based on the diagram? Btw I have a s14 KA so the ecu pin out is different 1 Quote Link to comment
heretic
I'm not trying to be a dick....... if you can't look at that pic & tell which wires are from the 510 harness & which wires are from the KA harness I STRONGLY suggest that you get a wire diagram for the (car) KA harness you have & the 510 harness and study them both. 1 Quote Link to comment
dago521
New to the website and I want to buy a can/am box for my first swap in 521 I hear it's super simple who do I order from.. or how Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Just type 'Can Am box' into the search engine top right of page under the green 510. Look for Icehouse's post on them. Quote Link to comment
