datsunfreak
Who made the adapter? My guess is a guy named Earl. Maybe Chuck. 1 Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Haha, maybe so, it definitely looks like a DIY adapter. I will get some c/s bolts and try that. Initially I was going to just keep the stock manifold bolts but I will take up your advice. Keep in mind I am going to run the 32/36 to start with and eventually get my dual DHLA carbs rebuilt and a kit to install them. So the Weber conversion is only temporary until I get enough dosh. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Fooling around a bit more with my dash wiring harness.I found a spare hazard light switch! Also found a spare heater cover that is black. Much cooler than the poo brown one I have installed. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I made that adapter back in 1988. Uses the stock manifold studs with the stocks washers & nuts. The cupping does not affect it at all - it never came loose in the years I ran it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
So you are Earl Chuck :D Or your real name of MacGyver? Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Yea I think ggzilla is right. Plus there is no way I can get those manifold studs off without cracking them. That would be a nightmare. Going to leave them on there. I was just being a little paranoid with the fitment, but ggzilla if you had no troubles with it than that should be fine. I forgot that I bought it from you, that was a long time ago. I still have to fit those 1/4 window rubbers I got from you too! I got my new studs today for the rest of the adapter (outer 4 holes) to bolt the Weber on so I am closer to installing it. Maybe this weekend I will install the accelerator pedal, cable, and the Weber. Then I will be even closer to test firing the A14, once I can afford a battery and battery wiring kit. graveltrapp
Did someone say Chuck? 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
FWIW, Redline makes one that is a good bit slimmer and not too expensive... http://www.piercemanifolds.com/product_p/99004.100.html Do have to pull the studs though... Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
My dash pad was in decent condition but there was a few things annoying me. There was alot of overspray/primer from the previous owner that I tried to get off with solvent but no luck. Also there is a crack running through the middle which I was going to leave there. But today I decided to repair the dash pad and fill in the crack. I used a pliable epoxy type stuff that my Dad uses for plumbing repairs and filled it in with some putty sticks and sanded it smooth. Few coats of matte black spray. So far the first pass at the repair looks okay. I am going to fill it in some more and repeat. Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Also more progress on the dash wiring. - Wiring diagram photo posted for reference for anyone using a RHD dash loom. Fuse block installed, fuses in, and wiring connected. Also painted the ashtray to match the dash. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
What made you paint the dash frame white? And the repair looks pretty decent. I sort of fixed my bad cracks the same way but ended up painting the pad with a "textured" paint to help hide my repair... ^_^ Been talking to a buddy with connections in South Africa to see how much a new dash pad is. Do you want one if it's reasonably priced? Only downside is it'll probably be brown so you'll still have to paint it. Quote Link to comment

Thanks for the thumbs up! I think I am going to stick with this dash for now. I also have a spare RHD dash pad and dash fascia for anyone interested, but it needs heavy repairs. Thanks for the offer though. Quote Link to comment

njoz1200ute
Cut - never saw one ever in real life with the stock radio hole. Believe me I've been after one for years. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Cut Damn. <_< Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
I have a stock radio facia. The AM radio will be modded to be a ipod player I might not be commenting on the right info but I will share anyway :D Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Too many 1990's retrofit CD players, people just hacked them to pieces. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I might not be commenting on the right info but I will share anyway :D He and I were talking about RHD fascias. At least that's what we need, an uncut RHD one... Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Can a cap be made for just that portion? Billet item maybe for you weird modeled cars..... Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Can a cap be made for just that portion? There is no doubt. But, it won't be the stock piece. ^_^ I'd like it to look a bit more factory. And without an uncut fascia, you just can't. I actually had the 1200 radio delete panel on mine for a time, and it covers the hole okay, but I just didn't like the way it looked... Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Im making Rings that extend out further for the gauge rings. I imagine an item can be made to look factory and fit perfect where the crappy cut area is, and mount an AM radio. Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
These are some custom radio delete plates I have modeled for the 1200 dash fascia. I think they look better than the stock one. Just waiting for the 3D printer to fix his machine. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I take back what I said. I would rock this delete plate... ^_^ These are some custom radio delete plates I have modeled for the 1200 dash fascia... 1 Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Thanks! Hopefully I will get some soon. Not sure how to approach attaching them at this stage, but will cross that bridge later. Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
Epoxy some bolts to the back a use a large washer and wing nut to capture the edge of the opening. I love both designs, hope they come in at a decent price point. Quote Link to comment
