Need help getting part number or part

Recommended Posts

Hello ratsun, I always seemnto need those really weird parts. This time, I seem to have lost my l24 distributor adapter plat or collar. It's that 2 bolt guy that mounts to the timing cover. If anyone could get me a part number and where to get one, that'd be great!

Sorry buddy.  The only place you're going to get that is off another motor/timing cover.  Check your local pull and saves.  Maybe someone on here a little close has a spare on hanging around.  Z24i or e?  There is a difference if I remember correctly.  (Fuel injected or carbed)

They will all work BUT the rotor may point in the wrong direction. To correct you will have to drop the oil pump and rotate the drive spindle, maybe even clock the wires around one space too.

Yeah they aren't listed with the timing cover and not with the distributor... like they don't exist.

Only the '79-'81  non turbo had them but watch out! Make sure it has the E12-80 matchbox module!!!!

After '81 the E12 93 module was used. See the extra I and W terminals on the side??? Won't work on non EFI engines.

Hey Mike, in case you haven't checked my build thread lately, I figured out why that module exists.  It was to cure the hot start issue on the z cars and Maximas.  I believe it retards the heck out of the timing at idle so it richens the mixture a bit and allows the aerated fuel to pass through and be burned until the injectors/rails cool down, and then everything's fine and it's just sluggish off the line.  All I know is, with it on, there isn't a hot start issue.  Backdating to the early module, the hot start issue becomes apparent.

If it is an L24 engine The support # is  22178-21000 ( L26 and L28:22178-U6000).  I did not see a parts # for the plate that has the timing marks (looked that up for a 1200 and has a base # of 22180

It might do that too.

When used without the EFI ECU it introduced up to 10 degrees retard to your timing as the engine revs up. The ECU uses this module to adjust the timing.
