If leaking gas around the top outside you can unbolt it and lift the top off. Inspect the diaphragm and clean the mating surfaces, apply any gas resistant sealer sparingly. NOT that RTV shit! Get a SEALER for this and use sparingly. You don't want it blobbing inside and getting into the one-way valves or to the carb.. 

 

If leaking oil from the pivot pin, clean thoroughly and degrease. Put a dab of RTV on both sides. If leaking oil from the mount to the head replace both gaskets. Make sure the phenolic spacer is not cracked.

 

 

The kit is about $90 at the dealer but it's likely the diaphragm which is #17053-N5810 and less than $15

someone posted this on retsina FB. looks like it will work but i don't see anything specifically saying yes. Assuming your pump is a six bolt like mine. any idea Datzenmike?

I was hoping to hear from someone who's done it, not "it might work". I'm trying to buy the correct parts, once.

It'a four bolt, BTW.

The only difference i seen was the main diaphragm the part that goes to the fuel pump arm.

Have you bought the six bolt kit yet? It's one of my many priority projects

I don't have a six bolt one, jut the 4 bolts.

I've got a nikki and ampco.  I took my ampco apart and looked at the main diaphram and the hook was different style.  My Nikki was rebuilt by the PO i guess ill lake it apart and see how that one is and if theres any differents

Hey Mike. Can diaphragms still be purchased from Nissan?  I was thinking about doing a rebuild/clean of my Kyosan Denki fuel pump.  Also, I want to replace the fuel line rubber tubing.  How do I determine the gauge?

Only the dealer can tell you if still available. If you ever get the chance to grab a pump off an old junkyard engine, do it. An old used one is often better than the shit they call new today. At the least, in a pinch, you can swap it on to get you into town.

 

Fuel hose? Take a sample down to the auto parts store and have it matched to something. For example a 9mm would be very close to 1/4" and 12mm is close to 5/16". Make sure it is for gas.

Found a guy on craigslist with some parts so I obtained another fuel pump.

I cleaned it up with a green scuff pad, q-tips dipped in bourbon and some water.

It came out pretty clean and the diaphragms look intact.  the valve assembly is functional as well.   

Is anything needed prior to reassembly?

Is a gas resistant sealer required on the diaphragms?  If so, what is it called and where can it be purchased?

Also, I could not remove the pivot pin so I just lightly cleaned out the cavity with a q-tip.

new here and bringing this topic back up as I'm having troubles finding a rebuild kit for the Ampco fuel pump in my '74 620. the pump itself works fantastic, but it has recently begun spraying oil out of a little hole that is right next to the rearward nut that secures pump to head. it sprays quite a bit, I drove it for a few miles back home when it started and it coated my entire engine bay with oil. once engine is off, oil continues to drip from the hole for a few minutes. trying to figure out how to post a picture of where the hole is located. havent been able to find any information on this symptom my truck is experiencing.

Ampco

 

See that round looking thing on the flange near the mounting bolts? That a pin that the arm pivots on. Sometimes the seep oil. Wait for it to stop. Spray a de-greasing agent like carburetor or brake cleaner then a dab of RTVin each side. I did this on my 620's L200B pump.

Just in case that's not it and it doesn't help, take the pump off and there is a 1/4" plastic spacer between it and the head with a gasket on each side. Use the spacer to cut new gaskets out of a cereal box and inspect the spacer is not cracked.

 

That should do it.

 

Get a dollar store hole punch and scissors. I made this oil pump gasket in a few minutes. The thermostat cover, water and oil pump are all home made this way.

in the picture you posted, right above the AN in Japan you can see a little hole towards the very top of the lower body. that's where oil is coming out of on my pump. looked through my FSM and didnt see anything about oil coming out of that hole. 

 

it is the original L18, fully rebuilt. the fuel pump is original though, everything on this truck when I got it was OEM and in good shape, right down to the oil filter. 

 

engine was rebuilt because when I pulled the head to do the gasket, one of the cylinder walls wore a little weird so I decided to redo the whole thing, the PCV was also clogged as the truck was only used by the original owners for a short period during the year. spent most of its life sitting in a garage. 

 

truck is running and driving now, complete with a five speed swap (originally an auto), but I still have some kinks to work out haha

I have a 74 also and my Ampco was doing the same thing. I took it off and cleaned the shit out of it, put on 2 new felpro gaskets and a new felpro spacer. Also took Mike's advice and cleaned around the pin thoroughly and dabbed rtv on both sides and no more leak. That leak drove me crazy, was dripping oil down on the alternator😵 and blowing everywhere else.  I suspect my leak (never was able to pinpoint it) was either from the pin on the side of the fuel pump facing in the direction of firewall or somewhere around where it mounts up.I did not notice that little hole until I had the pump off. Oil was building up and dripping from the hose clamp screw directly underneath where the pump mounts up to the timing cover.  

That little hole is on the side of my pump that faces the firewall and I initially suspected that as the source of my leak. When I cleaned everything, put new gaskets/spacer, and rtv on the pins , got it put back on I started the truck up and let it run for about 10 minutes and watched. I held a mirror down at that hole, the pin, and the new gaskets and had no oil leak.
