Hey Datsun brothers and sisters. I'm reaching out to the community because I am about ready to start my build. I bought a complete rehab from a dude in Escondido that I finally managed to get repapered, so title is now clean and I can proceed. I live in the San Diego area and need contacts, advice, everything. I will post pictures here next week, have to upload them. I have some really cool ideas. I want a KA swap, and I need to know how to get that low, but still driveable level stance. Please help a brotha out!!

My advice is get the L running if you can and enjoy it while upgrading brakes and suspension. They're fun little engines, you can twist the dogshit out of them and they don't care. Welcome to Datsun ownership.

lol. Pics will be up quick like, I want a fuel injected KA. Nothing crazy I just want to cruise in reliability. The L that is in it only has the bottom end and I dont want to rebuild it. I'll pull it out and sell whatever I don't need. Yeah, I towed it home, hasnt run since the 80's. Complete redo. I wanna make the engine bay super nice. Like I said pics forthcoming!!

A '69 L521would be the last year the J13 engine was used. '70 was the first year the PL521 had the L16 engine. Not that it matters if you are engine swapping but...

The ''69 will have a 4.875 ratio rear end. A bit high for a KA swap. The '70 was 4.375 still a little hairy.

1968 May: 521 minor change introduction

1969 July: L16 engine introduction for PL521

All 1968 521 had J13 engine, as well as early 1969: the J13 sheet metal for the radiator is easy to remove and allows you to drop L-series engine into, it even has the holes for the L series radiator install.
