Front bumper bracket question

On the front bumper bracket, could one of you guys tell me the distance between the bolts holding the bumper on? Center on center distance between them or the holes in the bracket like in the pic? And what's the bolt size?

I have to fab up a set of tow bar mounts to get my wagon home. It's 20 miles away in a fenced locked yard where I can't setup a welder and grinder to do it there. I have to make them at home and take them with me. The plan is to remove the front bumper and bolt tow bar brackets to the bumper brackets and pull it flat on 4 wheels.Any help would be appreciated guys.

Tow bar? Scetchy man. I neither have a bumper nor the brackets but I would suggest just taking the whole bracket off and coming straight from the bracket mounts on the core support/front subframe. Would save you bending up your bumper brackets.

I purchased a tow bar that was custom made for a 510. It mounts to the stock bumper brackets. If I was going to use it, I would get an extra set of front brackets and attach them to the tow bar. Then I would just slide it in place and bolt it to the body.

I have never used it but I have no doubt it will pull a 510 just fine.

I have the pics from the guy I got it from. Take a look.

I'm not really sure why everyone is so down on them. I've towed many vehicles with one. All small granted, but l every single one has pulled awesome.

That pull bar is great qwik that's probably what I will build. Thanks for the pic

I should go get it from my storage. I have a tow dolly so I have never used it but when it came up for sale around 10 years ago, I didn't own a dolly so I bought it JIC (just in case)

I own one and it has paid for itself many times over, it has also destroyed a bumper and core support or two in it's 30 years of ownership.

I wouldn't use a bumper jack on a 510 either, it's about using the right equipment.

Qwik posted the right equipment. :)

Took a 300 mile trip this week to get a wagon. Used the tow bar for the first time. It worked great. Car just pulled along right behind the jeep. Much easier then the tow dolly as it's not as wide as the dolly so you don have to think about it.

Looking at the tow bar, it is a standard tow bar that someone built a custom bumper bar for. Very easy to use. I unbolted the 510 bumper brackets and bumper from the car, bolted on my extra set of front bumper brackets to the car, bolted the tow bar to the brackets and then lined up the swivels and slid the pins in place.

I haven't had the chance to go pull my bumper off yet and build myself that bar. I need my bumper to get my spacing correct for the brackets. Glad it towed so well for you.

I think I can pull all the measurements that I need if I go and get my bumper.  I was asking for the measurements so I could avoid doing that and build the bar over last weekend, but now I will have the time to just go get it.  Your pics are already plenty good, so I think I am set.  I really appreciate it though.
