Forjen620
Hi everyone! I've got a couple small rust holes on the side of the bed along the seam. Can sheet metal be welded on the inside of the bed to patch it, then smoothed out on the outside? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This seam is problematic because it's also where the bed surface meets the top and bottom side panel... and welcome to Ratsun. Quote Link to comment
Forjen620
What are my options? And thanks for the welcome! Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
It should. Just make sure you get a thick enough sheet. What I did for my 510 was take some wet sand paper, sand everything that is rust till its bear shiny steel. Then weld to it. Another way is to cut a square out to weld a matching square for an almost seamless job. The little holes 1/2 or smaller, and not in a critical structure part of the body I used an old school body shop technic of lead filling. Good luck and welcome! Bondo is not your friend. Ratwagon1600
Pics? I can then give an opinion from thousands of miles away. Whatever you do, make sure you treat the rusted areas with a good quality rust conversion fluid/spray. Something like this should do the trick: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/3X-Chemistry-Rust-Converter-Aerosol-Spray-Can,80800.html Quote Link to comment
