Booniebashinbetsy
I've got a 4wd 85 and I was just playing with the idea of swapping the front end for a solid axle set up. Just a thought, but dose anyone have any ideas on what kind of work that would take and ware would you start really? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes it's a lot of work, about half just thinking about it and planning. What axle? Early Toyota 4x4? Really good disc brakes, same bolt pattern for the rims. Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
I would start with a tape measure and measure your frame and front axle to get some baselines. Early toyota axle, Late land cruiser axle (beef) or a Wagoneer dana 44 are all close to the same width as stock. What type of suspension your run is up to you to research. Leaf spring, radius arm, 3 or 4-link...coils and shocks, air shocks or coil over shocks are options. Then you need $, how much will depend on your previous choices. Other than that you will need a welder and some skills to do the swap. I would not suggest a suspension swap as a first or even 5th fab project, mistakes can be deadly. . That said read the thread in poor mans sig. The 4x4 620 thread in my sig might be helpful as well. Quote Link to comment
