So i bought the housing for 35 bucks brand new off a nissan dealer ship but when i got home i noticed it was missing a hole for the fitting that goes into the carb has any one ever threaded their own hole into it?

There is no fitting from the thermostat housing to the carb so you're explaining it incorrectly. Post a picture and explain.

I notice that my fuel filter had coolent what should I do ?

Again impossible to make sense of this. A picture would probably help.

OK here is what I see, you have the fuel line hooked up to the WATER by-pass fitting on the thermostat housing,  it needs to be hooked up to the fuel pump!  Some how I don't think your MOS in the Marines was motor pool...

Might want to check where you are pumping fuel into.
