Dual carb on A14 Engine

I am thinking of putting a Dual carb system on my A14 engine that I am rebuilding. I am having oversize dish pistons (0.20) installed, balancing the crank & Fly wheel, mid cam, and headers installed. I have changed the transmission to a 63a 5 speed.  
 
Will a dual carb system give me more power or is it a waste of time and money. At this time I have a weber 32/34 carb. will I need to have the head ported to install the dual carbs?

All Nissan cranks and flywheels are well balanced. You might have the flywheel lightened and then pay to have it balanced to get your moneys worth out of it.

 

Dual what? Dual down drafts? Dual side drafts... SUs or Mikuni or Weber?

No need to port the head to install dual carbs. I ran them on my STOCK A12 engine then on a Stock A14.

 

Will not usually make more power than a well-tuned 32/36. But sound better because less quiet air filter systems.

 

Dual-DCOE type carbs (Weber DCOE, Dellorto DHLA, Mikuni-Solex PHH, SK OER, etc.) can make more power if tuned correctly for the engine. For example:

* A14 80hp with stock high-RPM cam: use 40s with 30mm chokes. Good for 5 extra HP.

* A14 65hp with stock 5600 RPM cam, use 29mm chokes

* A14 with mild cam use 28mm chokes. Although for this the stock carb is plenty -- a mild cam has less HP (but more torque) regardless of which carb is used.

*A14 with wild cam e.g. 8000 rpm and ported head, use 44s or 45s with 38mm chokes

 

In general the wilder you go with the cam, the bigger carbs can go, along with porting -- The higher you rev, the more HP can be made. You can get 40 extra HP even with stock compression ratio.
