Zeek90
Hi guys. I noticed in reverse gear 1st and second gear. When i would come to a coasting stop without using my breaks i hear a rubbing rotataing rubbery like squeeking noise.sounds like birds cherping. Clutch engaged i hear it.but goes away wen i step on my clutch. All my gears work well. An i dont hear that noise when im accelerating. Only as i let go of the gas in reverse,1st and 2nd gear. Anyone know what it could be? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Ha ha... yeah always check the oil, and while under there check the U joints for looseness. They also will squeak under load. Quote Link to comment

Zeek90
I put gear oil in it. It used about like a bit over 9oz or about 300ml of 80w 90 oil gl 5,4,3 . Still makes noise after i drove it around a bit Quote Link to comment
ericsb210
Best to change out the oil, use only gl4, Napa auto has it. The old oil in the tranny is prob as thin as water. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There are still the U joints. One or both could be dry. They are none replaceable BTW. Quote Link to comment
