Performance Brakes on a 76 B210

Has anyone put performance brakes on a 76 B210.

 

 I am helping my son to restore our B210 hatchback, were having the engine built up to get about 160 Hp. and be able to run @ 8000 rpm’s. After looking at the brakes and how small they are I was wondering what would be a good up-grade system, I would like to put slotted & drill disk all the way around, but I don’t know what will fit or where to find any information on putting performance brakes on a 76 B210.

not technically  performance but im pretty sure 280zx struts and brakes are a  bolt in.

 

and they will be far more than enough to stop a 210 with a A motor

 

 as far as rear's i believe you can swap the whole 200sx rear axle with the disk brakes i believe the 200sx with the disk is an early 80's

Pitroad in Japan used to make a rear disc bracket kit that worked for 280zx rear brakes but it is not made any more (I tried to pay double and he said, no.). Best solution there is to have a bracket made by a machine shop once you have a set of 280zx (turbo) rear brakes. You can buy almost if not all of the parts on EBay re-manufactured (use Centric as they are an OEM supplier) or you can try and get parts from Nissan. This is kind of costly but the braking system in the rear would essentially be new.

 

I did the 280zx (turbo) front struts (for a 510) from TTT (Techno Toy Tuning) shortened 3" with Koni adjustable struts. Then bought remanned Centric calipers,new slotted rotors and generic ceramic pads. All the mounting hardware will be hard to find along with good backing plates for the rotors. My '74 stops about 120ft sooner from 60mph and strait - does not pull from one side to the other! And my shimmy is gone! I did not change anything on the rear besides DOT 4 fluid when I bled the brakes (it still has 30yo shoes and drums). I did also replace all the front steering linkage and idler arm and control arms and arm braces with new TTT parts or remanned Datsun parts, new boots and grease everywhere makes a world of difference in the handling.There is a thread on here about it, http://community.ratsun.net/topic/55440-lowering-a-74-b210-4-door-rear-shocksstruts/. I have a Datsun 510 wagon rear end which has drums that are at least twice as big as the drums on there now, I will be installing that as it is not as wide as the 200sx 4-link rear end and will take leaf springs already. It still may have to be narrowed though.

It's 1.5" wider. May just need to change wheels to a more positive offset. 

 

Side note, the 510 wagon diff is about a billion times stronger than the B210 diff.   ^_^

I have the 280zx front strut in my B210, it definitely makes a difference in stopping power but didn't change the day-to-day driving feel very much (maybe a bit more pedal??).

If you don't increase the size of the master cylinder, it will increase pedal travel, but also decrease pedal effort.

Yeah, I know. The change was pretty trivial even with the stock cylinder. However, I have big clumpy feet so it might be more noticeable to other people.
