That4doorKiD
I put coil overs on my front and it's time to lower the back. For now, I'm going with just ugly cut springs. So I compressed the rear shock and loosened it. I assumed the rear swing arm would be loose enough to hang down and release the spring. What else do I have to loosen to take the spring off:/ embarrassing question Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
Disconnect the shock, if the brake line is long enough, you should be able to pull the control arm down far enough to get the spring out. If not, disconnect that too; better yet disconnect the half shaft at the wheel end. 1 Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
loosen the control arm bushings too. If you just stomp it down with your foot you will tear the bushings which is not good. I like removing the four sub frame bolts better than removing the axle bolts haha. can't have your jack stands on the crossmember but beats pulling the axle bolts by a mile! 1 Quote Link to comment

That4doorKiD
Those axel bolts are tough I'll try to loosen the two bushing bolts tho Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I remove the half shaft at the tire. but 1st I jack the rear drum up to take tension off the shock then loosen and pull lower part of shock off. then drop the rear drum as I always use a jack. then lower much as you can then push down on it also and lever the spring out. cut a coil to a coil and a half then install as its ezer to put back in and notice the spring cut so it fits in the slock of the lower control arm. jack back up and install shock and put H/S bolts back on Quote Link to comment
That4doorKiD
got it not so hard Just need to think before you do  1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I would have left the top of the shock on. remove the bottom end esp if a gas shock. then use a jack under the drum to lift up or down. buy antiseize. it will be your friend in the future!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Hainz's method is the one I have always used in roughly 30 years of Datsun ownership. (RW's two cents worth) Quote Link to comment
