Love your posts!  just curious do you have much smog where you live?  The pictures with the sky in them really look like there is no smog.

nah not much smog out here mate,  you gotta remember lots of open spaces and small population in comparison to you guys,  I'm right down south in the south eastern suburbs of melbourne

 

the areas with smog are the city cbd and I'm a good 45 mins out from cbd,  I'm right near the beach on the bay

so I'm cleaning up my computer and found a few things id like to ad to my thread that may interest you guys

 

 

 

now that the wet weather and cold has set in i got a couple models to kill the blues,  ill have to show you guys my toy collection some time as have thousands of die cast

heres a keyring that a mate made me for my b day,  it was my 40th a couple weeks back,  hence i been time poor

some time and japanese wrapping papeer

built myself a drink and smokes holder for kenny

 

 

 

 

trav popped over the other day in his violet,  he got himself some jdm spec wheel covers for it,  so so ugly but suit the car perfect

 

last but not least,  very stoked as kc kites posted a pic of my truck,  yeah was an old pic but very cool all the same

sunday just passed the nissan sports car club head there christmas in july

 

i met up with a few of the lads and we rolled in as a crew to park together

 

great day but cut short due to rain

hey guys weathers started picking up so i been out and about of late

 

just gonna run off what i been doing lately that has to do with datsun

 

been doing plenty of other stuff while the weathers cold like build ray guns out of found objects but thats a story for some where else

 

grabbed a shot of what i think will be the last of the real cold mornings a couple days ago

 

 

 

was one of those days where i just went back inside and framed my 40th b day present from trav

 

 

it looks great in a frame and so i had to hang it up

 

 

above my datsun toys of coarse

 

got my latest the other day and very happy i now have all the colors

trav and i went to a trash and treasure the other day and i just had too have the two of these

so we mounted one in travs violet

no more use for the side mirrors and from the front it don't look too bad at all

hey guys i been a busy boy lately

 

been collecting some stuff to make some changes for our summer

 

first i got was these,  tyres are ordered so ill polish these friday and get tyres mounted on sat morning,  should have wheels on in the arvo if all goes to plan

 

 

ok so i been doing some research and it seems that mgb is same as j series,  so that means speed parts from mgb bolt on here in aus as we are rhd

 

i got this 

 

 

so plan is to rebuild and make stock air cleaner fit

 

so after i got that i started looking into mgb inlet manifolds

 

 

i have a couple leads but aint got one in my hands yet,  should not be long before i do,  i found one and paid for it then guy backed out of deal as his brother wanted it

 

but in the process of hunting for that i found mgb extractors

 

 

ill clean these up and wack them for test fit in white truck

 

only inlet to find and kenny will be barking

been a busy busy couple weeks

 

finally have an update,  a little bad news but a truck load of good news

 

so ill start at the good

 

so went and picked my new wheels up

 

15x8 -22

 

lil dirty but in a pretty nice state and after a clean should match kennys patina 

 

 

 

best thing was no gutter rash and not too many knocks and scratches,  pretty darn happy and so i started cleaning

 

so first up i hit with degreaser and then a stiff brush and some warm soapy water to get to this

 

 

and then i hit them up with some soap pads,  so really fine steal wool,  i didn't want to get a mirror like polish but more of a look that would have rolled in the 70s maybe early 80s

 

lips are machined so to get to mirror would also be a mission and suit kennys style

 

 

so a bit of a hand polish and got to a point i was very happy

 

 

 

and so off to tyre place

so at tyre place and set to go

 

 

 

so while thats going on ill fill you in on the rest

 

after i paid for an inlet the guy pulled out and i had to find another

 

my mate who sorted me exhaust mani and collector pipe found me an inlet

 

mgb cannon inlet to mount weber

 

 

came with a bonus weber too

 

 

 

fuck yeah i have everything needed in my house

so pretty happy that everything is falling into place 

 

so trav and i decided to test fit the stuff on the engine i have,  all good on the inlet but the exhaust mani hits engine mount

 

all good my mate steve is gonna make a custom engine mount

 

other than that looks like this is all gonna work 

 

 

and so heres the engine mount issue but its no biggie

 

the plan is to mod then test fit everything in doug the truck and once all good ill transfer to kenny

 

its great having a spare engine and also a spare truck to test fit

 

 

 

 

not too much of a problem so i cleaned the inlet mani as its all looking like its gonna work

 

 

next on the list is to clean up the exhaust mani,  gonna run it cast as want a stock look

 

rebuild weber

 

make stock air cleaner fit

 

engine mount mod

 

test fit in doug

 

build 2 inch exhaust with hot dog

 

next on the agenda after all this is a gear ratio change

 

my mate trav has been a lot of advice and help here and suggested it

so on my wheels i removed the plastic studs and mat replace with something different,  have not decided yet

 

also gotta get myself centre caps as had none that fit wheels

 

but on a lighter note heres how the wheels look

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

so the plan is i got a set of reset leafs coming and that will drop rear 2 inches and i can wind front down one more inch and that should make it levels,  may have to roll the rear

 

ill see as we have to build exhaust and the stock one is lowest point of my truck and i think we can fix that
