First step: Look at the size of the battery in your car. If you suspect it's the wrong size, Look on the internet. In all reality there is no single "appropriate" battery size for your 78 210. Canadian OEM is CCA 340.  US OEM is CCA 315.

I've been happy with this style in my 521.  Cheaper (although still expensive) & better than an Optima (which suck these days), but still a sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat).  BUT, it doesn't get very cold here, so I can't speak to cold weather performance.  I will say I've left my 521 sitting for over a month and have still been able to start it without charging the battery, and that's with a fair amount of cranking to get fuel flowing.  Here is what they list for your 78 B210:

In the '70s I was just east of you in Ontario. Same problem on the brand new '76 B-210 I had. Try 10W oil for the winter but change it out when temps remain above 60F. I also ran an extension cord to the car and had a block heater. I set the timer indoors for 4AM so it actually read just above full cold when I started it. Later I added an electric battery blanket. Battery charge is directly related to it's temperature. Some times it was -20 below.

At work I would go out at noon and warm it up. Later I hid an extension cord under the snow and used their power to keep it warmed all day.
