CEL3
Alright so I've done research and I've seen it's been done. But I'm hearing different things back and forth and don't know who to believe. I've heard the steering hook up is hard due to the engine being in the way. And I've heard you have to cut the floor? I don't want to hear the " you shouldn't do this put this in it. " or " that's a bad idea. " I haven't comitted yet, I just want to know. What problems do you face, do you have to cut the floors for a 5 speed manual. And what other mods do you have to do. I know there will be mods every swap has them but what will be the biggest problems, and what all is required to do the swap other than engine. I'll be carbureting it also And what's better for the swap a Vortec or regular 4.3, I know the Vortec is better but are there any fitting differences? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Are you building it to tow with? Have you searched the engine weights of popular V6's that you would consider? Quote Link to comment
CEL3
I'll consider anything I just have a hook up with a 4.3 chevy right now and have seen it done. But no just to play with really Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
Dude if you do this document and share. Lots of oics and don't give up in the middle please. I wanna see if it can be done and how hard it will be. Personally I've been debating doing a vg30 4x4 from a pathfinder or frontier in one of my trucks and I know the motor swap has been done before but I don't have the skills to complete it myself. So seriously I wanna see it Quote Link to comment
CEL3
I haven't done many swaps, I'm only 19, but I done one in my 1967 Camaro me and my dad restored, we did a ls2. It was a JOB, but if I do I will so maybe I can help you with yours. 1 Quote Link to comment

CEL3
So no one knows of a build thread or anyone who has done this? Or heard anything about it? Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Stick to thr L motor & enjoy thr truck. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Not aware of anything about swapping in a 4.3 in particular. There's a bunch of stuff about other v6, mostly Buick. Hobo- you're likely better of just doing a body swap onto a hardbody v6 frame for what you want. Quote Link to comment
CEL3
I've been pming some guys and I'm really considering the ka24, for ease. What's power like with these? I haven't checked specs. And any other info anyone has. Quote Link to comment
CEL3
I would stick with the l but I'm really wanting more power. I wanna change alot. The trucks screaming at 60 and I can't get out of my own way and I do alot of driving at that speed and it's not as enjoyable. Quote Link to comment
cr83
Have you considered a 5spd swap for your current engine? Would help with the screaming at 60 Quote Link to comment
CEL3
I have, but I figured I might as well do a swap. I'll still be unsatisfied with the power :/ Quote Link to comment
cr83
The amazing lack of power is part of the Datsun experience haha 1 Quote Link to comment
CEL3
Now that I think of it that was one of the first reasons I fell in love with it. Lol the first time I saw it is a funny story. Quote Link to comment
Danfinny
powerbyace.com has engine and trans adapters for the 4.3 in a 620. Quote Link to comment
scooter
this isn't a bad swap, but your left side manifold may be a little tight, a t-5 from an s-10 may work well. its a lil heavy though.. but itll go like hell 1 Quote Link to comment
cr83
I've never really liked the sound of a 4.3l, they really have a odd tone to them, they are a small block Chevy 5.7l with two less cylinders, lots of the parts from a sbc will work on them Quote Link to comment

polmec
I have a 76 with a 4.3 it is real easy just go to powrebyace.com here is a picture of mine. If you have any questions just ask. I am not here often but I check my e mail. The truck runs 11.70 @ 110 1/4 mile 7.24 @ 92 in the 1/8 mile. It is a fairly easy swap I didnt have much trans tunnel work to do I have a turbo 350 automatic. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
For the same amount of work you can fit the Vortec 5.7 or Vortec 6.2. Plus you get that V8 sound. Weight is nearly the same as the heavy V6. The radiator space is the biggest swap difference, but there is still room. Vortec 4.3: 425 pounds LS1/LS2 V8: 405 pounds 1 Quote Link to comment
orangie
Does it have a high rise fiberglass hood? Did you build the car or buy it? I only ask because there was another guy with a chevy v-6 that ran 11's on NOS with a 9 inch ford out back. Quote Link to comment
polmec
Yeah that might be me. Was the truck green? https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Little-Green-Datsun-Truck/550674651609739?fref=ts Quote Link to comment
orangie
That's it. I asked about the quality of Unlimited Fiberglass hoods. I like chevy 4.3's, but I don't think adding the carb here is a legal swap. Quote Link to comment
