Andypomeroy
I busted one of my standard sized A14 pistons - (out of the car, dropped it while putting rings on). So now I've got three standard sized deep dish 8.5:1 pistons and need a replacement. I found THREE shallow dish (9:1) new pistons, but that just leaves me still needing one. So - I'm looking high and low for ANY A14 standard sized 76mm piston to help me make up a set of 4 one way or another. Can anyone steer me in a direction to find one - new or serviceable used? Thanks!Andy Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Welcome to Ratsun Andy. What was it out of? year and car. Is the 9:1 compression a factory piston? What year? I can get you part numbers but no way to tell which is which. Quote Link to comment
Andypomeroy
The engine is an A14 out of a '79 210. This engine had the late model round port intake, and the 8.5:1 low compression (deep dish) pistons - from what I can surmise these were part number 12010-H7284. These were unique as they had a very slim top ring that is 1.2mm rather than 2mm like all the others. The 9:1 compression pistons are the very common stock "shallow dish" pistons. Part number 12010-H7284 - I know the correct Sealed Power number for these is 12147P as I have 3 in their boxes. Cylinder head has already been replaced with oval port and twin SU carb setup. So - I have 2 sets of three pistons that can't be mismatched or swapped. If someone has any single standard size (76mm) A-14 piston - I would be good to go! Will pay whatever - just need to get this thing back together! Thanks, Quote Link to comment
Andypomeroy
After searching all of the usual suspects, (plus a few very unusual) I was able to find a good supply of replacement pistons from RPM Machine in Salt Lake City. We'll see if they are the right ones when they get here! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You used the same part number for both pistons. The 9 to 1 may also depend on the head used. Wish ggzilla was around. Quote Link to comment
rbastedo
Hi Andy, I've got a Bugeye Midget with an A15 and the H89 head along with a pair of HIF-4 SU's. I'm over in Snoqualmie, not far from you. I ordered a set of pistons from Rock Auto, haven't installed them yet. Rick Quote Link to comment
zed1
I have one (1) new, standard J13 piston that I may be interchangeable with the A14 piston. Here is a reference chart: http://www.postdiluvian.org/~mason/datsun/datsun-parts.html Keith Quote Link to comment
