Janksun
I've noticed that my rear end has been whining a lot lately and it keeps getting worse. It does leak and I top it off every now and then but it just keeps getting worse. It's a 1971 510 wagon that was an auto. I haven't taken it apart yet because it's my daily driver. I was wondering if there's a way to adjust the clearances or is it toast? I also noticed that there is a little slop in the driveshaft to axle play, like I could spin the driveshaft and the wheels wouldn't turn right away, is that normal? Quote Link to comment
kelowg
Maybe pinion nut has backed off. Pretty much a rebuild to adjust it. Look at the gears thru fill and drain holes,if teeth look ok then likely bearings. Those r pressed on i believe. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Drain fluid into a pan. Inspect fluid for metal shavings/sludge. Start shopping. 1 Quote Link to comment
