cupcakescustoms
I am looking to pick up a 74 620 in the next month. I have a 2.4 engine sitting around I pulled from a hard body. I also have the ecu. I know I need a harness and transmission. What else will I need. Any help would be great. And how can I get a can am box for painless wiring. Thanks in advance 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
Set of motor mounts and I think a different tranny and driveline. Driveline might just need to be shortened. There are members that make the motor mounts (i know redeye is one of them, not trying to do it how he has his sn but he's a mod and should see this) Oil pan should be fine since its already off a truck. This is a very well documented swap and if you use the search tool on this site you're bound to get minimum 10 threads that will have it documented 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Truck harness is a pain in the ass. Integrated in to the body harness. 240sx won't fit without extra work. Truck is throttle body injection. 240sx is multi-port. I'm assuming you have a single cam. If it was my project, I would scour the yards. 240sx intake, ECM, harness, head. 1 Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
I pulled the harness out of my hard body it was a pain in the ass but I sold it a year ago. I heard about the can am box fpr painless wiring. without looking at the egine in fromt of me i am pretty sure it is TBI. I still have yet to see the conditon of the 620 i am picking up its buired under snow here in alaksa. The man syas it ran when parked 10 years ago and he said might be mising 2 things if that. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Type ka swap into 620 into the search function and read the dozens of results..... all this is covered in detail. Then ask questions, if any. 1 Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
A few threads in my sig that are relevant to the topic :) PM Icehouse for the CanAm Box. BTW painless wiring is a brand and in no way affiliated with the CanAm stuff. 1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
flatcat, truck KAs are multi port injection too. they just have a downdraft throttle body with the MAF and all that shit built into it. @OP. i would get a 240sx intake, harness and ecu. itll make the swap much easier. redeye makes the motor mounts, and icehouse does the CanAm boxes. if you use a trans from a z24 720, its pretty much a bolt in affair on a 620. best of luck. 2 Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
Found a 1974 datsun 620 today for $400 hasn't moved in 10 years buried in snow. 2 Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
I appreciate all yalls tips and info so far. I went and looked at the 74 I will be getting. Right off the bat you can tell the windshield is cracked out, holes in floor board and you can see rust. Since this project will be a frame off build and a stock floor body drop. This does not concern me. It's blue in color with some nice rust patina. I already have a KA engine from a 94 hard body. I'm going to have to wait till the snow melts here in alaska before I can get it out of the field it's in. Clean title and $400 what yall think? 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
You might want to get it out and rolling before you commit. It's not like you'll find replacement parts easily. Not up there, at least. 1 Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
@flatcat19 yeah my biggest concern is that it's been siting in a field in alaska for 10 years and it's get to -50 sometimes -60 here in the winter. So things have froze and then they thaw for the past 10 years and all the snow that has melted on and a around the truck most likely has rusted the frame. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Here you go, I like picasa, it's easy to copy a photo. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Take a trip to Seattle and buy one. The cost will be a little more, plus the travels-but it sure as hell will have all of it's frame intact. $400 for a 10year hard-parked and packed in snow is just a bad move. Tell him you scrap it for him for $100. 2 Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
Thanks for the picture help wayno. I'm on the forum from my cellphone. Internet is expensive in alaska. I have been here a year and have only seen 3 620s but all of them have been packed in snow for years. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Interior parts might be good especially the dash. Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
Well I'm not 100% sure I want to get the datsun. It's been sitting in over 10 alaska harsh winters down to -50° piled in snow and thawed put every summer. When I opened the door I could see through the floor. There's so much snow I can't get under it to see the condition of the frame. Quote Link to comment
cupcakescustoms
Even though with a stock floor body drop most of the frame Will be rebuilt. The driveline will be from a different vehicle. So the body rust and electrical will be a problem most likely. Clean tile $400 not sure if to go for it or not. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I've bought better for half. Quote Link to comment
