Figured it was about time I joined this forum as I have been on Zcar.com,CZCC,HBz for a year and a half now. And this is likely where my particular Z most belongs. So just stopping in to introduce myself and my death trap. A good frien of my big brothers bought my Z out of Des Moines in 97, he daily drove it till around 99 where it sat for a few months and was eventually bought by my brother, he only drove it for about a month but stopped driving it due to several issues, I first met her when I was 6 in 2000 and thought it was the coolest car I had ever seen, well 13 years later this car hasn't moved, and thats when I got her, the years have not been kind. But within about five months of ownership she was my daily driver, and was up until an engine failure in October, but thats taken care of now. I've done so much in my 15 months of ownership that I couldn't even list it all. I actually need to start a build thread somewhere, but heres some semi recent pics.

it was pushed into a shed for its last 10 months of storage, so the first thing I did was crawl on top of it, and install a battery, then used WD40 on all the carb linkage to break it loose the 280 hood led to plenty of rust on the DGVs linkage. Disconnected the fuel line and fed her some starting fluid, and she fired right up, for a few seconds. Drained the tank and filled it with 91 and seafoam. replaced a few lines and got her started for real fpr the first time in nearly 14 years. I had a vid but it was lost when my phone was stolen out of my Z while parked along with the last video of my Dad that a friend took the day before he died, but that was the first thing I did. I'll dig up some more pics tomorrow.

Hello! My name is Taylor, I live out here in Wichita Ks.

Nice 260z... did you guys shave your legs for that?? LOL

I have a 260z myself. Best car Ive ever owned. I first saw her when I was 18, for sale next to my buddy's house in Udall, KS! They had $750 listed on the window. I knew I had to get it that day. Ran back to the house and made my dad come drive it with me. Thing was in pretty rough condition. The exhaust was all rusted out. Id say a fair amount of surface rust on the body. A hole on the passanger's side.. But the girl started up no problems. I was hooked. My dad on the other hand... not so much. We ended up stealing her away for only 675. I was stoked. Since then Ive put alot of time, money, blood, and tears into her.

She came with dual weber DGVS. Meh.. havent had any issues with them to be honest. ALSO came with an R200 rearend, Idk how to tell if its the 3.9 ratio though...  Added an MSA 6-2 Header new pipe all the way down to a nice 6" round Magnaflow muffler New master/slave brake cylinders. same for the clutch. Put a 5spd trans in it. And attempted to do some quick body work and paint... which needs to be redone.

I took her across the US, drove down to arizona when I was stationed there. Got out of the army took her to see california, on my way back to kansas me and my buddy went through the rockies in colorado.. man that was beautifly intense. Got back to Ks, and it wasnt long till I took her out to South carolina to see my Dad. Id love to make another trip like that again.. However...

Before I parked her in late 2011 she became sick... the trans throws itself out of 5th gear. she just wasnt the same car. Pulled her motor and trans out.

Shes far from complete and still needs some basic upgrades. Luckly with tax returns on there way I have big plans for her.

I recently found a 1970 L24 with an e31 head and round top SU's. Im picking it up this weekend.
Ive decided to go ahead and put it straight into my car and get her back on the road. Although my real goal is to put that e31 head on my rebuilt l26 block this should boost my CR and maybe give me some more power.

So I have been scouring the interwebs for information on fitting a e31 head on an L26 Block. I know that if you use bigger valves on the head have to notch the block (or bore out the cylinders)

In all honesty Im looking for someone who has actually set this combo up and ran it.

I plan to be starting this project by the end of this month. 10334297_10154143130820112_4019047535232

Yeah I started on mine, October 2013, and it had DGVs on it bthyst were from when it was sitting, I tried rebuilding them to no avail. after months of trying exercise the demons from them, I gave up and bought another used set. Which along with a ton other stuff had my daily driving her by may, and then on my birthday, October 21, on my way back from work she started hiccuping and spluttering then died. Managed to limp her home, and found it to beasome type of carb issue, that I was trying to work out, then while taking for a spin after some tuning my carb linkage fell apart, resulting in one end of the engine under hard throttle, and the other end under none, which somehow resulted in me spinning a rod, in november I drove up to Minneapolis in a borrowed trunkless olds 88, bought an L28,put it in the trunk and drove it 5 hours back. I painted and installed it, along with a new centerforce, and all new gaskets. but didn't do much after that as the Christmas season was on, but this month I've been trying to figure what was wrong with the DGVs this whole time, now I've given up on them have a recently rebuilt set of SUs on the way that I scored on this site actually. Hopefully she'll back to daily duty by this time next week.

Hey guys figured I'd update finally got my SUs on, and I love them. Vut I ws getting a really bad intermittent clog in the tank leaving me stranded after about 5 blocks. So I dropped the tank and had it hot tanked, then sealed it with red Kote. Boy those fumes are awesome! I was full tilt pupils dilated, starring at the empty can of red kote like its fine art, high. Pulled the bumper while the tank was down, then a friend helped me get some good pics for the hell of it. 10997281_349222048607301_853321651014810
