Hello everyone Im new to the forum, just came across it by accident. My name is carlos and this my 521 that is a father and son project car. My dads name is also Carlos. But I have had my truck for about 5 years. I don't have that many pics on me since I'm away from home at the moment. Im in San Francisco and my truck is back in LA.. I think we bought it for $600. The owner couldn't figure out was wrong with it, it wouldnt turn on..just needed a little carb work and we got it to start up same day we bought it. I will post original condition picks soon and some better updates pics besides these.

About me: My name is Carlos im 26 and Im a video game developer, just finished working on call of duty advance warfare. I will soon move back to LA and I will try to finish this truck of the way me and my dad envisioned it.

My Cars:
1972 Datsun 521
1966 Ford Falcon Sports Coupe
1995 240sx SE
2006 Sentra Se-R Specv

Here are some pics, The mustang is my uncles 65 Mustang which has also had extensive work done to it. Originally we where just going to restore the datsun engine, interior and exterior, but once we started modifying it we got the mod bug, Ill be happy i can put down 130 WHP after im all done with it but hoping for more. But im still early on my research and development phase.

Truck mods so far:
- Painted with 2003 mustang cobra sonic blue color code
- Rebuilt L16 engine to OEM specs
- Swapped the 4 speed for a 5 speed.
- Header with  2 1/4 inch exhuast with flowmaster resonator, not cat obviously
- Rhino Lining
- Custom Interior blue on white
- AMBER FOG LIGHTS
- Delta Bright Headlights
- Electronic Distributor

All work except interior trim and paint job was done by me and my dad. Paint job and interior was done by one of my dads good friends shop.

Future Mods
- Lowering it
- wheel upgrades
- 5 lug conversion
- dual carb set up
- L20B head swap
- cams, valves, rods and pistons
- Progressive Direct Port nitrous / 50 shot/ NX progressive controller to tune using jets to get good A/F
-Willwood front and rear disc brake conversion

note: my hood is not broken its just not closed all the way in some of the pics. we bought the truck with those wheels just never upgraded them because i cant find a nice set that I like yet, thats why I will be doing the 5 lug conversion,

Negative on the head swap. An L20B head will lower your L16's compression to 6.72 a big power loss. An L20B cam is the same specs as an L16SSS cam... something to think about.

Best would be an L20B swap. Twenty more HP without having to add a thing. Now if you go bigger cam and dual carbs, the increase is on top of the L20B's 94 hp and not the 67 of the L16.  Yes I know the L16 is rated at over 90 hp but that was how it was measured back when it was made. Today it (and the L20B) is measured differently and it's just under 70-ish.

You painted it yourselves??

So, have you seen this thread about truck wheels?  Plenty of options, you just have to work a little harder.

Thank for all the love guys. Believe me when i tell you ive looked online and all through summits catalog,,i just dont like most of the 6 lug designs... After going back in forth with my dad on the subject we decided on the 5 lug just because of the options available.. We want a really stanced look on the truck so we will probably end up getting some CCW wheels..i pretty much love all their line up but the d11L have really grown on me. I know some people like my uncle will hate on the idea of taking that 6 lug originality from this small truck..But we dont really use it to haul anything..we put so much money into already its more of a weekend cruiser..I just need to get that stanced down.. and upgrade the super shitty stock seatbelts that are to godamm small.

datzenmike  thanks for the info. I will take that into consideration when i cross that bridge..

CCW D11L..their not for everyone but thats what tickles my funny bone at the moment. here they are in action in a srt-4

Try looking for wheel that have 6 on 5 1/2.  That is the actual measurement.

Mid 1960's chevy half ton pickups also used this lug measurment.

All the stock body bolts on your 521 are American SAE sized.   #10-32 screw hold the taillight assembly, and headlight buckets to the truck.  Fenders are held on with 1/4-28 bolts.  Front bumper brackets 5/16-24.

Brake line flare nuts are 3/8-24.  Lug nuts, and bolts holding seat belts are 7/16-20

SO first off love your truck and its a 521 so extra points all across the board. As for wheels there is nothing that looks good unless you find old school or I like billet wheels so I had one off's made for my truck. Dont worry about stock because the Shelby paint scheme is far from stock already. And I dont care what any one says but 5 lug is a way better option, wish I did it but I was balls deep with new wheels bought and ordered and I helped Juan out with the Wilwood brake kit that was for 6 lug.But I am happy.
