russaroll
damn i love your build! thank you It's going to be a MONSTER! yep, but a nice monster. the engine is basically stock. i have to pull the engine out again. putting the trans on with it in the car is an impossible task. i'm just going to assemble the whole thing and stab it in one go. russaroll
ok. here we go. got a new toy. this made it a little easier. it was still a bitch stabbin that thing in there. if there is a next time, i think i'm going to do the "lower the car on the engine" method. trans went on easy. ...and, it's back in. meanwhile. new studs on the diff. lookin good you can't do it like this. found out the hard way :/ diff is in. bonus section so i bought this mani from cxRacing. it's nice, fit great but..... HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET ANY NUTS ON THERE? i'm pissed. this thing is going back. goodies 1 Quote Link to comment
INDY510
couldn't you slide the manifold away from the head and start the nuts when the studs are only sticking out a few mm??? 2 Quote Link to comment
russaroll
couldn't you slide the manifold away from the head and start the nuts when the studs are only sticking out a few mm??? I tried that. :( I scooted and slid and spaced, not happening. even if I somehow got the nuts on, there is no shoulder for them to rest on. The welds are right next to the holes. Draker
That's lame! I'll keep that in mind next time people are asking questions about the cx racing headers. I think there have been complaints with a few of their datsun products. Radiator, crossmember.. now this. Three strikes.. your out. Quote Link to comment
Filthy_
I don't know if you addressed your manifold issue yet, but I sourced a manifold from Mckinney that works great. I had to do a little bit of modification to one of the nuts to fit, but it has a similar location as the CX one. In fact, it's made for the swap so there's a good amount of room for the downpipe. It's nothing fancy, just a log type with a flange, but it works. Build looks awesome. :ninja: Quote Link to comment

I actually have 2 CX manifolds, the one pictured above is a turbo forward type the other is a rams horn style. Quote Link to comment

russaroll
after having issues with 2 cxRacing manifolds i broke down and bought one from DOC. yeah it's spendy but it moves the turbo forward where i want it. look at how smooth it is in there. the cxRacing ones are all chunky, no bueno. also got this MVS/38mm flange because DOC does not offer 2bolt flange for their manifolds. houston, we have a problem. no fitty. it's ok. i found a 90 that FRSport sells. going to need to order that before the WG goes on. so i bought these 2 "mock up" wheels for when i have my flares made. front 15x9 4"bs and rear 15x9 4.5"bs. thought i would slap one of the rear ones on to see what it would look like. i think i might get 2 more and just roll around with steelies for a while. brb. i need to get some studs for the turbo and some groceries for the belly :) 1 Quote Link to comment
