Sierra
I am trying to replace my old meter and gauge cluster and I came to find out that the new one has some extra wires and a relay that mind does not have. Anyone know where those extra wires connect to? My old cluster is the one on top. Quote Link to comment

Sierra
YOUR CAR'S YEAR? My car is a 1978 Automatic. Don't know the year of the car that the replacement cluster came from. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Extra wires/switch are for idle kickdown on Manual trans cars.. Just leave them unplugged, you don't need them. Quote Link to comment
Sierra
I was under the impression that only the automatic cars had the kickdown mechanism. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
My '76 has a speedometer switch that closed above 10 MPH and holds the BCDD on the carb open very slightly. I think this was to reduce emissions on deceleration or that backfire sound in the exhaust. When slowing down, foot off the gas, I noticed that when you pass 10 MPH the engine would suddenly drop off in RPMs. This was the BCDD being turned off. Found out much later (from Doug I think) about this feature and remembered how my B210 was. Quote Link to comment
