K I have a wee problem

Was in the process of doin my bearings in my fs5w71c Trans bolted to a z20 1988 d21. And noticed 1st 2nd synchros are bout dead and 1st gear has fu*ked the harding on the inner bearing so now it's spins rough.

What I want to know is can use a diesel td23 or td27 rs5w71c or if I can find a fs5w71c, are the internals the same ie ratios currently have a 36 tooth 1st gear. Any info would be great or even if anyone in nz has a gear and a few good synchros cheers for reading

You should be able to use any 71C that is the same length by swapping your Z specific front case onto any other make SD, KA, VG, CA whatever.

There are (I think) only two gear sets available on the trucks. All 4th and 5th speeds will be close to the same. 4wd are usually a wide ratio (see below) and 2wd closer. I don't know what you have for sure.
