Charlie69
720inOlyWa all I do is lean out the idle circuit and run a tank of gas with a can of Sea Foam treatment in it. I did not run the Sea Foam through it and I failed emissions. Failed the NOX part the others I went through at half the emissions allowed. When i brought the truck home from Battle Mountain Nevada I had the smallest cheapest catalytic converter installed to go through emissions. I think after 4 years and a lot miles and the oxygenated fuel that it is time to replace the catalytic converter. I will also pull the EGR and clean it up. I will clean the EGR and run some Sea Foam through the tank and go for the free retest. If I fail emissions again I will have a new CAT installed. Here in AZ we have to spend $500 plus before we can get a waiver. Brandon been rocking the rocked instrument cluster for a while now. Gas gauge quit working but I think it might be the tank sender. 2 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
I have looked also and have not found anythingeither RW. My brother and I work ed on my 86 king cab today and it was an up hill battle. Cut the old cat out and got the new cat welded in except the top of the front weld. We proceeded to seperate the collector from the manifold and could not brake the 2 bolts and the 1 nut loose. Soaked and waited, soaked and waited, and soaked and waited. Still would not break loose so out came the oxy acetalene torch and heat worked. Problem was it was an after market manifold I had installed in Elko Nevada just after I purchased the truck. The threads no longer existed in the manifold. so it was time to locate a manifold. My brother texted my Guam friend Robit and and said I was broke down and needed an exhaust manifold. The phone rang a few seconds later and robit said he had one. 20 minutes later Robit shows up with the manifold drops it off and says if I need anything else just call. Talked to Robit again and he is going to give me an used EGR valve so I can clean it and just switch it out for mine. A hour and a half later the manifold is on and all is good. Except I broke one of the small lines off of the charcoal canister so I need on of those to rolace my broken one. Tomorow I will pull my Weber and install new gaskets and Lock Tight (red) the 2 allen screws in and remount and test for leak. I will fill the tank and add The can of Sea Foam to it and drive until the tank is empty. I have a clean tank that I had hot tanked a few months back for the 85 ST King Cab that I will install into my 86 King Cab since the 85 has a bent frame.after that I will take it back to emmissions. 1 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
I appreciate the offer, but I will have to pass. I own more trucks than I have room for already. I buy complete 2 wd 720s for $200 when they come available. I have been stripping what I want and crushing them in a 1 week turn around because I ran out of room. Quote Link to comment

720inOlyWa
Holy Cow! Charlie is a 720 crusher! Who knew?!? Boy am I jealous of that hot dipped fuel tank. Oh yeah. Jealous. Do you think the Seafood thing works? Removes carbon, cleans components? I used it a lot for after race lube in my 2 stroke engines, but never used it in a car engine. Just curious. 1 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
Robit is coming over Saturday morning to do the rear brakes on my 520 and to swap gas tanks in my 86 720King Cab. I still need to pull the Weber and install new gaskets and LocTite the Weber adapter plate allen screws. Also need to swap EGR valves as Robit gave me one off his 72,000 mile 720. Guam does not have emissions. I hope to run a tank of gas out with Sea Foam in it before retesting emissions. 2 Quote Link to comment

Cheetosrdabest
What a cool truck your friend has ! The world of Datsun never ceases to amaze me...you guys are soooo lucky you came across these cool little trucks and had the brains to keep them. I would build another garage just to have some of the little trucks I've seen on the forum...don't know what I would do with all of them, but that's not the point....right ! 1 Quote Link to comment
