77 280z strainer removal

I dropped the tank on my 1977 280z and I see a strainer on the end of the fuel lines how do I change this it already stopped up my fuel lines and burnt up one new pump the car sat since 1997 until I got it 2 years ago and i cleaned the tank and changed the fuel pump I just dstarted working on it again any information would be great

Just rinse the filter off with gas. The strainer is only there to prevent any large damaging debris in the tank getting into the electric fuel pump. It isn't intended to stop everything, that's the job of the fuel filter up by the engine. Fuel filters are to protect the delicate EFI components. All EFI have a return line to the tank and all the fuel eventually gets filtered over and over as you drive.The best way to keep your tank clean is to drive it. You cleaned the lines and tank and have a new pump all should be fine.
