Hello All,

Im looking to do a little tuneup on my valves this coming week and would like

to know if anyone has the specs on the intake and exhaust spacings? Have found

some numbers but im not certain if they will apply and considering her age there

may be some adjustment needed.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Warm the engine, hot settings are best. If you set the engine to TDC on the #1 compression stroke you can check/adjust these valves...

Cyl.

1...... In. & Ex.

2...... In.

3...... Ex.

Turn the engine ONE (1) turn and back to TDC on the exhaust stroke and check/set the following valves...

Cyl.

2...... Ex.

3...... In.

4...... In. & Ex.

This is way easier then bumping the starter and missing and having to go around. Best of all it's faster and the engine won't cool off before you are done. The lash? I don't know but someone here will.

Negative. The factory service manual (FSM) is far better. But get the exact year if possible. Chilton's, Haynes and others almost always cover multiple years and generalize. The FSM is very specific about almost everything on your Datsun. New they are probably about $75 but they can be found on e bay for far less if you don't mind someone else previously putting grease on it. They pay for themselves in the first 15 minutes.
