bonvo
Why not get duplicolor engine enamel in pontiac blue? Closest thing ive ever found to datsun blue 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Is the block going to be hot tanked to clean out all the water passages? That will also get rid of the patina on the outside, so it will need paint. If it stays patina, it has to be cleared, or the rust will probably run down and it would be a PITA to clean up any leaks. If painted...black is about the best choice...IMO.....to hide any leaks/spills. Part of me loves the idea of the patina, but I wonder how many people will look at it and think...."WTF? After all the work and $'s that went into this truck, they couldn't paint the block?" Tough call.....one I'm not going to make. It is a Ratsun truck......but it's sure not going to look like one from the outside!! Of "touch of ratsun" wouldn't be a bad thing. Good luck with making the decision!!! lol This exactly. Paint it, black or pontiac blue. 2 Quote Link to comment

DanielC
"denmarkboy and or Daniel C contact me about the switch problem" I think the switches are OK. I worked some WD-40 in them, and got a fair amount of gunk out of them. The Cab (dashboard) wiring harness needs a lot of work. Some animal chewed on it 1 Quote Link to comment

Some animal chewed on it The wiring under the dash is fine , except the headlight switch is 6 wire and the harness is 4 wire . The wire from the firewall forward is chewed up at the fuse block . I am already sourcing that piece myself . The only problem remaining is the headlight switch being different . We need to just add the additional wires for the 6 wire headlight switch .? 1 Quote Link to comment

I was trying to show this grey valve cover. It will look good with a grey block or the patina 2 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
I forgot I had this dash. I believe that it is a 69 and it has the 4 wire light switch. The only problem with the wiring harness is the ignition switch plug has been replaced with crimp on spade connectors. I will ship you the harness and the switches if denmarkboy Daniel C approves. I will not be able to ship until the first of next week. I can ship it to either Daniel C or denmarkboy. 3 Quote Link to comment

Mr Klotz is going to ship me a harness , we had already discussed it previously . I did need to touch base with you about the metal ash tray . I have a plastic one we can use if the metal one isnt an option . 1 Quote Link to comment

denmarkboy
Patina is winning..........we have till 5pm to present better arguments....... :D arguments for : (which is my vote) When this journey started I just wanted to see the community of ratsun/datsun do something as one , and for one of us to benefit from that collective effort . Although that the short version , that is the story . Which is why I vote patina , it's the story . We are on course to build a best of show truck . It would be very cool to ad just one more story to this build . patina ............ 4 Quote Link to comment
