Either the speedo cable is hooked up wrong, or its much longer on the automatic vs the manual, so this is holding the cable so it doesnt drag on the ground

The original knob's arm has 2 fins that hold the illuminated knobs, but they broke, and i got some replacements.. Turns out 620 and other datsun illuminated knobs are different and have different arms.. So a standard knob works

Nice build so far! Quick question: what's the black coating you and your father are using for the pans? I'm in the middle of replacing the pans in my 510.

Por15, its some real tough paint that you just normally apply with a brush, its not too spendy compared to other stuff, but its real effective. You can pick it up for a good price over amazon and such.

Some quick updates i guess? Most of the issues that i've been dealing with lately is in this topic -> http://community.ratsun.net/topic/66891-engine-bogsstutters-at-high-and-full-throttle/

Some smaller updates though:

The exhaust pipe completely broke off the muffler, so we did some tinkering with a O'reilly's 1" 5/8' piping, and used some pipe clams to crush the pipe around the exhaust to hold it together... That's what I call ratsun!

Update. Went and got the car vin verified and registered... I cant keep my blue plates!  :crying:  :crying:  :crying:

I cant keep the blue plates cause my car isnt a 72' or older, and I dont have any documents from the p.o's that contains the licence plate information.. So unless someone knows the college kid who used to have my car 40 years ago, or no bluey for me.

when you do your exhause use aluminized pipe close to 2 inch and from the you pipe where it collects .

doing this now and right will save time later.

I was cheap when I was young and just used steel pipe now rusted wish is was aluminized and wish I did 2in. I have 1.75 which is ok.

My 521 i did allumnized 1.75 and lasted me 15years an not even close to rotting out and use a Good Dynomax muffler.I would get more quiet now muffler as Im older

Update at last!

Mostly been dealing with my senior year of highschool, and im still trying to find a damn job, so I don't tinker around with my dad as much. Did a timing chain on the car which lead to a oil pressure leak, and a week after it was done, we got it fixed and running strong.

Today we worked on the interior of the car, FINALLY getting the passenger seat mount made and welded in, and after that we got the awesome carpet in that was generously donated by a fellow Sac Datsun Club member.

Here are some pics of the old and rusted seat mount.

And my father and his good old friend who worked on my father's 1/4 mile 240z helped create a simple seat mount out of some steel.

(Sorry forgot to get pics before it was welded in)

Second seat went in

The corner and large seam was ripped up from before, but the corner hole had gotten mysteriously bigger (Probably a rat/mouse) Due to the evidence of some small claw marks? Maybe?

And finally the carpet! And what an difference some cheap duct insulation and some carpet will do to the sound levels

Tried some work on the rear seat, and new boards for the package tray and the rear of the rear seat. Since the back of the rear seat was so ripped and nasty, we tried to clean it up and tied the vinyl back onto the frame.

UNTIL, 5 minutes later the whole rear seat smelled like piss, really reeeally nasty piss, and seeing that I am not a very big fan of piss in my car, we took the whole vinyl off and threw it away. So now I have a frame that ill cover with a mexican blanket I got from the Flea Market.

Cars looking great! My car I believe is "bamboo tan" although I'm not sure of the color code.

Where did you get the black cover piece and the trim ring for the boot? I'm looking for those

My car is a beige 125, which i think is a 73 only color, and are you talking about the boot or the black plate under the boot? The shift plate I picked up at canby from a parts vendor, the shift boot is a generic amazon shift boot we made work.
