Anonymous Waffle
the floors on my 2dr look very similar to yours. What are your plans for them? Just going to patch all the rust spots, and probably replace the seat support on the passenger side, since its shot pretty badly. Replacing all the floor wouldnt be required and is too expensive. 4perrev
Nice work thus far! Love the dry ice idea and that looks much easier than a scraper and a hammer. Congrats on the find and welcome to the house. Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Welcome to the club. You got a nice ride. I wish I had those floors on my Z. They dont look that bad. Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
Don't worry the 73' rear window is the only one that is almost impossible to find! Because of the defroster! Where in the states do you live? Quote Link to comment

Congrats on the find and welcome to the house. And its a whole lot cleaner since it just comes up in big chunks! And thank you! Don't worry the 73' rear window is the only one that is almost impossible to find! Because of the defroster! Where in the states do you live? We're going to have to pop the rear window out sooner or later, there's a pretty well hidden rust spot that leaks water all the way down into the trunk :hmm: Also im from California Quote Link to comment
Anonymous Waffle
Welcome to the club. You got a nice ride. I wish I had those floors on my Z. They dont look that bad. Thank you very much! Im not 100% sure or not, but like the 73' 240z, i believe the steel used in the 73' 510 might be slightly thicker than the early years. Quote Link to comment
Busta Nut
Great progress Waffle!! Keep it up.... Quote Link to comment

yellowdatsun
That color is very "in" right now, I'd keep it. Maybe get some touch up paint made and matched by a paint shop, or find a close enough spray can to do touch ups. Glad to see you're making progress on it. I got my first 510 when I was only a few years older than you, and still have it some 20+ years later. Like I said, try to get it running and driving, and make small improvements as you go. Otherwise it snowballs into a never-ending project. Quote Link to comment
Anonymous Waffle
Where in ca are you? I'm in the Sacramento/Elk grove area Great progress Waffle!! Keep it up.... I'm on the look for a color similar to beige 125, and I am planning on touchups, a whole entire repaint is pricy. The "ratty" rusted kinda look is what I'm into. Quote Link to comment
edekalil
Keep up the good work, looks great. Quote Link to comment
Anonymous Waffle
Quick update, the trunk has been grinded down, and its not a pretty sight. Its swiss cheese :crying: My dad suggested to cut the floor out and cover it instead of finding and replacing the spare wheel well. It'll be cheaper and faster. And who needs spare wheels anyway?? 2 Quote Link to comment

Draker
I would probably try to repair it.. or replace with another. But it is easier to delete, that's for sure. time for a fuel cell install.. Quote Link to comment
The Taterhead
Make it flat and put one of those wagon spare chain thingies under the back. 2 Quote Link to comment

4perrev
Yeah, being that bad, I would cut it out and put a flat sheet down there. I'm debating that exact thought with mine right now. Quote Link to comment
Anonymous Waffle
Quick update, not much work has been done. P.O. spilled tar or house paint on the front and 2 hours of cleaning got that off. Always gotta prioritize asthetics first! carb was taken out and shot as hell and need a replacement. Soon the car can go in the garage for weldwork. pictures soon! Quote Link to comment

Anonymous Waffle
Got some good work done, car is VERY close to being rebuilt, and parts will be going back on soon. Just some little things to do here and there. Also stopped by Datslocos Swap meet and got some essentials and misc parts. Damn good price on a set of flat top SU's. If anyone will have some extra information about this set of SU's, do tell. Has a K14 Intake, and supposibly came off of a 610. Wiper system was entirely seized, so its been rebuilt. A good set of seat brackets i needed. Roadster Air box that was for a good deal. Also got a good deal on this heater, its very similar to the 510 heater, but its not the same, is it possibly the 620 pickup heater?? 2 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Nice work. The truck is coming out good. Decided to do the same and cut out the spare tire and drop a new floor. Good score on the parts and seat rails. Keep it up!! Quote Link to comment
Anonymous Waffle
1 Week before Canby Update! All of the brakes are completely rebuilt, bled, and working nicely. The fuel system is all complete except for a damn fuel filter, and the temporary motor is now in the car. The donor motor is a original 60k mileage motor from a guy who was (Sadly) turning a 60k car into a ka swap. Interesting fact, Im not quite sure if this was changed in 72' or not, but the temporary motor thats in the car is a 71, and the alternator bracket mount bolts to the motor block was changed in 71' to 73', for no apparent reason. Possibly to support heavier brackets/or to support heavier alternators?? Pictures to show what an entire difference it is. Left is a 73' right is a 71' 71' Mount bolts 73' Mount bolts You could say the interior wont be too "complete" After installing a battery for some electrical tests, something chose to come back to life, AMAZINGLY! 4 Quote Link to comment
