I have never failed to remove a Datsun steering wheel. Sit behind wheel. Place hands between wheel and dash. Turn head to the L or R. Strike the far side of the wheel on the spokes and drive it towards you. Try to do together, hard with the heels of your palm. Did I mention to turn your head??? If not stitches in the lips and maybe new dentures.

Others have said to grip the top and bottom of the wheel rim an push one and pull the other hard while wiggling it off.

All manuals warn NOT to hammer on any part of the steering column. Some are collapsible and all have bearings in them. .... and it's the steering wheel!!!!!! Second only to the braking system.

Drill them out and retap. Use a punch to mark center of th bolt. Then use a small bit to drill thru, after that use a bit just smaller that the tap drill size and you may be able to work it out then and chase the threads with a tap. If not, drill to tap size and run a tap thru it. Now you have a non ghetto fresh threaded hole.

Edit: If you don't have a metric tap set I suggest investing, you own a Datsun and this will be a regular occurrence. Also on body bolts that you can get to the back of, sometimes iit's easier to tighten the head off and then vice grip it out (tighten thru the hole) from the back side.

Ive got one, not bad for the money. I had to put a rubber strip on the backside of the dash due to the old dash rotted off completely

Check the area to the left of the glovebox if you get one. Mine had a small stress crack. I fixed myself rather than shipping it back

any pic of it installed? always curious how they looked compared to my dash pad/cover

I think they are studs spot welded to the bezel. Remove any way you can or drill new holes in both and nut and bolt together

Anyone got any tips for me to get my l20b to stop dieseling?

Connect up or check the idle cut solenoid is working or in working order. The solenoid shuts off gas to the idle circuit whe the key is turned off.

Reduce the idle speed to 650-750. Or find out why it is so high and correct it.

Check that choke is completely off when engine is warmed up.
