MattiD
So I got some new wing window rubber and want to install it without cutting it. I started trying to take the window out but can't seem to get it out. Any one had success with this that can walk me through it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
DanielC
You pretty much have to take everything else out of the door to get the wing window out. Take out door latch mechanism, including outside lock cylinder, and door handle. Remove main window lower stop, remove door glass regulator. Allow door glass to go to the bottom of the door. Carefully pry up the two felt "fuzzys" on the inside, and outside ot the main window glass. Remove the four screws on the front sloped edge of the door window frame, and the two screws that hold the front main window track. The wing window frame can mnow be moved to the rear, and then slid out of the door. 1 Quote Link to comment

wayno
Make sure to lube the nuts on the bottom of the wingwindow where the spring is before you try to remove them, you don't want to break the shaft. You can buy the rivet for the top hinge point at the hardware store, some folks just use a pop rivet. 1 Quote Link to comment
MattiD
The rubber from Australia that I got from ebay fits good and seals good. I just hope the quality of the rubber is just as good. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I bought about 10 sets total from the guy also, bought 2 sets first and test fitted them, thought they fit nicely, so ordered some more for the guys in my area. MattiD
Did you cut a notch for the latch? Quote Link to comment
wayno
I don't understand, I did not cut anything on the gasket. Did you cut a notch for the latch? Are you talking about this area? Quote Link to comment
MattiD
Yours looks different. My window has a little catch on the frame that I had to notch around. Quote Link to comment

KELMO
Just curious, did you guys get your weather strips from Scott's Old Rubbers? (it's not a joke, that really is the name of the shop) Quote Link to comment
MattiD
Yep Wayno, that's what mine looks like. Not sure kelmo got them from ebay, all I know is they shipped from Australia. Quote Link to comment
wayno
We bought them from this guy. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-NISSAN-1300-1500-520-521-PICK-UP-UTE-SEDAN-DOOR-1-4-VENT-WINDOW-RUBBER-/121219473123?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c393e5ee3 Be aware that it is OK to buy from this vendor threw ebay, at least so far it has been OK, but do not do any private deals with him, he has fucked over people for thousands of dollars in the recent past. wayno
I have not fitted any wingwindow gaskets to this type of latch yet, so I have not had to cut anything yet.
