ASS HOLE !

Beg pardon?

It's your car, just don't ruin it.

It's also not my money, so i'll suggest the most expensive option.

ASS HOLE !

You ever going to tell me why you said this?  Or what I said to warrant it?

Been looking longingly at this car all week. I think it's getting close to time to do some actual work. We shall see...    B)

Well, the plot thickens. Someone made me a somewhat ridiculous offer on my 510 today (which was next in line to be built), so as soon as the 1200 is roadworthy I will be diving into this car head first. Stay tuned.  B)

Another project has fallen by the wayside, so some of those parts will soon be finding their way into this one...

16x8 Watanabe RS-8s. Two had perfect lips (left) two had scratches on the lips (right)...

20150805_194005.jpg

Disassemble time. Faces washed and sent off to be powdercoated...

20150805_203417.jpg

Now to sand, polish, and re-clearcoat the two scratched barrels...

20150805_203754.jpg

Also wanting to get an early 510 valve cover powdercoated to match the wheels...

20150806_133655.jpg

Decided to remove the wiring loom hump...

20150806_140007.jpg

Still trying to decide between using my L18 (slow but easy) and using a KA24E (fast but more difficult) I found for a good price.

If it's the L18, I also recently picked up a longtail dogleg 5spd trans...

20150706_173126.jpg  20150706_173115.jpg

Going to try and test fit the L18 soon and see what it needs to get in there...

Whenever I think that I'm out of my mind for putting this much time and money into an old Datsun, all I have to do is look some of your threads to know that I'm not nearly as whack as you are.

You're going to skin a few knuckles, stand up too fast and bump your head, hunt around the floor for the nuts and bolts you dropped, invent a few new cuss words and when you're finished you'll say "That wasn't so hard after all!"

I already knew your vote...    ^_^

It is tempting, as it could be quite a bit faster.

But I also have a 210 project that the KA would slot into nicely as well, so...

I've seen quite a few actually. A fellow I know in Houston has a silver one with a KA24E in it. Honestly, the L-series Roadster is the rarity. Used to be a common swap back in the day, but now... Not so much.

Of course, the vast majority are using a KA24DE, not a KA24E...

No doubt. Much easier to do a "wire tuck" on as well.  B)

Finally got the engine/trans today...

20151017_112512.jpg

Need to find a flywheel for it, but otherwise it's pretty complete...

Still waffling on whether to put it in the Roadster or my 620. Leaning towards Roadster now...   ^_^

roadster + L 620 + ka

This is not the worst plan...   ^_^

Would like to keep the Roadster as clean as possible.

Of course, a carb'd KA would net the same results...

Picked up some donuts from work...

20151030_181136.jpg

Aired up the flat tire and pushed it outside...

20151031_091647.jpg

20151031_091632.jpg

Jacked it up, took off the turbine wheels, and put the donuts on. Had to use some 2" adapters I had on the front because the Roadster spindle is too big to fit though the hole in the Nissan Versa spares...

20151031_115213.jpg

My friend Pat (aka FlyinPat) used his wrecker to then tow it over to my house...

20151031_171146.jpg

Did all that because my buddy Mark the painter came by to give me a quote on doing the body work and respray. We came to a number I could afford and so now I need to get all the trim and lights off so he can pick it up and start on it in a few weeks. Hoping to have it out of paint jail by late December.

And I did not realize the Roadster got the finned aluminum drums before the 240Z did...
