1994 Chevrolet 2500; Brake Pedal Turns on AC Panel Instead of Br Lights

Recommended Posts

My dad's stoopid Chevy truck (with utility bed) is having an issue with the brake lights not working. When I press the brake pedal, the a/c heater control cluster lights up. Sometimes it'll stay lit after I let off the brake pedal also. I have to remove the 25 amp fuse for the a/c and heater to get it to stop.

They were working prior to me removing the engine/transmission. I had them working intermittently one time afterwards. Ever since the A/C cluster started coming on when actuating the pedal though, the brake lights have been dead.

Blinkers and parking lights all work.

I removed the a/c cluster entirely at one point, and they still didn't work.

I finally figured it out. When I was pulling the motor out, I cut a couple wires that were still attached to the back of the block (grounds). I thought I reconnected them, or at least enough of 'em.

One of the wires I cut came out of a small offshoot of the main harness towards the back of the motor. I reconnected it today with some splicing and my brake lights no longer ground out into the a/c cluster.

Good stuff
